Vulnerability/Lethality Development and Analysis Engineer

The Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) Group is expanding our team of scientists and engineers performing research, development, and analysis in the areas of fragmentation mechanics, blast characterization, weapons effects modeling, analysis-of-alternatives studies, and trade space analyses for concept and developmental weapon programs. The MS&A Group performs experimentation, develops models, and uses analytical methodologies to evaluate weapons effectiveness in complex, networked environments.

Ideal applicants will possess an understanding of advanced software constructs and programming concepts using C++ in an object-oriented architecture. Applicants should also have good communication skills and a solid understanding of mathematical/physics concepts applicable to modeling and simulation solutions.

The successful candidate will be organized, independent, and self-motivated – be able to plan ahead, and keep track of multiple tasks. They should have the confidence to know when to tackle a problem on their own, and when it is time to ask a question.  Good time management skills are a must; be able to prioritize tasks and complete them on-time and on-budget.

Required Skills:

  • Applicants must be a United States citizen, and have the ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD  security clearance. 
  • Experience with C/C++, object-oriented programming
  • Strong mathematical background
  • The ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion within broadly defined goals and a dynamic team environment
  • The ideal candidate will be an engineer or physicist with a strong coding background, or a software developer with a strong background in physics/engineering.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with the Endgame Framework architecture and Endgame Framework compatible applications, and current JTCG/ME applications (strongly desired)
  • Experience performing vulnerability/lethality analysis, and building lethality target models for use in these analyses (strongly desired)
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, CMake, Qt (strongly desired)
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Lua, etc. (strongly desired)
  • Experience with CAD programs such as SolidWorks, BRL-CAD, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Experience with statistical analysis of experimental results
  • Experience with Linux based systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required) or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline
