VMWare and AWS SME System Engineer

Job Description

You will work with the government customer, their partners, and supporting customers in a cloud migration project. You will provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in system engineering support across the enterprises IT disciplines (i.e. Virtual & Physical Servers, Cloud technologies, Network, etc). Must have demonstrated experience with cloud-based technologies (AWS). The work shall include analysis, design, requirement formulation, recommendations, and documentation of system interfaces and architectures. You will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining all Interface control documents, requirements documents, and building and briefing control gate documents. You will interface directly with Sponsor’s senior management in support of this effort at times.


  • At least 7 or more years of specialized experience with enterprise & systems architecture
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud migration solutions and hybrid cloud management solutions.
  • 3+ years of in-depth experience on system disaster recovery/COOP and backup solution engineering, implementation, and operation management.
  • Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Framework, high availability, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated system engineering experience with developing, upgrading or migrating large scale enterprise projects to an AWS private cloud hosting environment.
  • Demonstrated on-the-job/academic/training experience with and understanding of Agile methodology, and ‘Cloud’ architectures, information sharing, data base repositories and collaboration technologies (wiki / blog), and Microsoft tools (e.g., MS Office, MS Project and MS Visio).
  • Demonstrated experience providing support to development and operations projects. This support includes interface/integration definition and documentation; user and system requirements collection, analysis, definition and documentation; system architecture definition/diagramming and deconvolution; tracking the status of project activities; identifying strengths and weaknesses of solutions; and verifying deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical topics to Sr. management and non-technical audiences. This includes facilitating discussions and leading conversations.
  • Demonstrated duties that will support the planning, scheduling, reporting and coordination of team and customer meetings, identify and track issues, risks, and mitigation strategies. Support communications with customers, other stakeholders, and service delivery partners.

Clearance and Experience Required:

  • Active TS/SCI w/ FSP is required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in an IT related field 8 years of related experience; or a Masters with 6 years of experience; an Associates with 10 years of experience.
