Sr. Principal Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) - FMS Engineer

Vehicle Management Systems Engineer. Requires coursework and/or experience in aircraft vehicle management systems. Duties include: flight critical system design for aircraft control; architecture design with optimized redundancy levels; trade studies; specification of hardware elements and technical support to procurement; vehicle management software specification and oversight; fault management design; lab testing of flight hardware & software; on-aircraft testing; support to vehicle flight testing; and anomaly resolution. We seek candidates with strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and the ability to organize work, manage time, plan, and prioritize.

Primary responsibilities include: Flight Management Systems (FMS) development of a fly-by-wire fixed wing aircraft program. The position reports to the Vehicle Management System sub-Integrated Product Team (IPT) with the responsibility to provide leadership and oversight to the maturation of FMS integration with the Vehicle Management System.

Tasks include: design, develop, implement, verify and test algorithms, software and simulation tools for Flight Management Systems and associated logic functions of manned aircraft.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited universitywith a minimum of9 years' experiencein electricaldesign of aircraft vehicle management systems or Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) disciplinefrom an accredited university with a minimum of 7 years' experience in aircraft vehicle management systems.

MATLAB and/or Simulink programming skills.

Experienced in Flight Management Systems

Active DoD Secret clearance (or higher)with a refresh within the last 6 years is required to start.


Preferred Qualifications:

Candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously, and comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

C/C++ Programming Skills
Experience with piloted fixed wing aircraft Flight Management Systems
PhD or Master's
