Responsibilities

Develop and manage all aspects of the Transient Test Reactor (TREAT) Experiment Safety Engineering Organization. Responsible for developing the policies and procedures required to support TREAT experimental capabilities; This includes effective interpretation of DOE and INL standards and directives. During the development of the organization, INL and DOE strategic objectives for advanced fuel development experiment testing will be translated into specific implementation strategy for TREAT.

Provide leadership, direction, and integration for the experiment activities at TREAT. Manage assigned staff and resources to maximize performance in the execution of organizational plans and deliver quality products and services in support of Laboratory Strategic Objectives. Develop staff by coaching and mentoring, providing career development opportunities, setting goals for staff that align with laboratory strategic objectives, and developing a succession plan that includes the development of the future leaders of the Experiment Engineering organization.

Design authority for TREAT modifications necessary for experiment support and experiment safety which includes the development of the Experiment Safety Assurance Package process. Responsible for allocating group resources to experiment project teams supporting TREAT program objectives, including coordinating with TREAT maintenance and Operations for resources required to support experiment objectives. In charge of coordination with other INL organizations, including ATR, MFC, analytical support and NS&T to develop experiment capability and infrastructure. Leadership to develop multi-facility capability is required to fully support research in the Nuclear Fuel Development Cycle. Represent the INL in interactions with international groups of experiment organizations that support advanced nuclear fuels development to fully utilize TREAT's capabilities.


Requirements:

Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) "L" security clearance

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline and 13 years of relevant experience or Master's Degree and 8 years.

Preferred:

10 years of leadership experience which demonstrate effective skills in staffing, organization of technical work, and execution of schedule and budget performance
