Test Engineer

Job Description

CACI is seeking a Test Engineer to join the ARAT program in Aberdeen, MD.  We are looking for an experienced engineer with a background in test and evaluation for Operational Flight Programs (OFP) utilizing Mission Data Files (MDF).  The candidate will support the existing OFP testing infrastructure and processes using specialized test stations and software, implementing ancillary equipment where required.  Additionally this candidate may support embedded software engineering activities associated with sustainment of OFP software products.  The candidate must be a quick learner with strong analytical and problem solving skills, who is resourceful and able to work independently in support of on-going projects managed from by the Army Reprogramming and Analysis Team (ARAT).  

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Engage and assist operational user community with system software issues and information requests.
  • Assist Quality Assurance and Configuration Management components to ensure proper data management and data integrity of test drivers, test equipment, and test setup data.
  • Assist Test Lead in resolving software, hardware or testing procedure/process-based test station issues.
  • Assist in review and modification of test procedures.
  • Perform root cause analysis and documentation for failed testing procedures and other test station system failures relating to either the test hardware or software.
  • Interface with software developers for bug fixes and upgrades to test station/instrumentation software.
  • Translate procedures in legacy test documentation into equivalent procedures for upgraded test stations
  • Write test station scripts and spreadsheet-based calculators to improve test efficiency.
  • Stand-in for test personnel on an as-needed basis.
  • Operate various/diverse OFP test station systems.
  • Identify test station limitations and resolve limitations by implementing appropriate workaround procedures.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. Government Secret Security clearance.
  • 5+ years of related technical and development experience.
  • AS degree in Engineering or other technical discipline required.
  • Experience with Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) software development and fielding process.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team structure.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and reverse engineering skills.
  • Ability to work both within a team environment and independently.
  • Prior experience working with  EO/IR Missile Warning Systems.
  • Prior experience with EO/IR integrated systems testing.
  • Experience with Hardware in the loop testing.
  • Experience in embedded real time unit testing, and integration testing, and software documentation.
  • Understanding of software sustainment methodologies and concepts.
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management tools such as Mortice Kern Systems as well as various legacy Source Code Control tools.
  • Experience determining and troubleshooting hardware failures through analysis of components, configuration settings, drawings, and schematics. 
  • Communicate effectively with hardware vendors to describe and resolve issues.
  • Provide critical analysis of vendor recommendations based on the soundness of the engineering principles and adherence to best practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarization with MIL-STD 1553.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in a UNIX Environment
  • Experience working in legacy Solaris Workstation Environments
  • Familiarity with legacy and newer versions of real time operating systems including but not limited to VxWorks
  • Familiarity with binary comparison tools. 
  • Working knowledge of scripting with interpreted languages such as Bash, BATCH, and Python.
  • Familiarity with C, C++, C#, Microsoft .Net, and/or JavaScript
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, computer networking, networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and serial communication.
  • Experience with various Integrated Development Environments including but not limited to Visual Studio.
