Telecom Project Manager

Position Description:

This is a Project Management position in support of the Department of State (DoS) Vanguard Program, Program Management Office (PMO), TWD Telecom Project Manager. 


The Project Manager is the POC to Department of State customers who require large Voice and Data service implementations. The Project Manager is responsible for the management of the entire life cycle of a project assigned to them including requirements gathering, basis of estimate, acquisition plan development, customer interaction, project execution, and project closeout.


Description of Duties: 

  • Create, solicit funding from various government organizations and manage budgets of a project from conception to finish.
  • Create and maintain Project Schedules using MS Project.
  • Monitor and control Task Team.
  • Write Statements of Work; Cost Estimate Letters with minimum or no direction.
  • Create work packages from standardized templates.
  • Participate in meetings with end users, general services offices, government technical leads, other contractors and vendors
  • Knowledge in the deployment of Telephone Systems, Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks and structured cabling
  • Working knowledge in Information Technology management.
  • Prepare documented project closeout procedures
  • Participate in activities such as Lessons Learned, Root Cause Analysis and After Action Reports 

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience: 

Bachelors and ten (10) years or more of related experience or HS and 14+ years of experience to include:
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role on projects or programs
  • Customer-facing experience. 
  • Telecom or Networking experience 

Required Experience/Skills/Attributes: 

  • PMP Certified or in progress.
  • ITILv3 Certified or in progress.
  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Project.
  • Good presentation skills and ability to adapt to various end customers to include government and/or contractors.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Clearance Requirement:

SECRET (Active) with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET clearance.
