Technical Writer

Responsibilities:

Perspecta has a program supporting the Federal Protective Service agency of the Department of Homeland Security.  We enable law enforcement personnel to execute their mission to keep federal employees and civilians safe and secure. We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our team and support this effort.

The selected Technical Writer will gather, analyze, translate and compose technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel. The Writer will compose technical documents including, user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports. The Technical Writer will edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user’s manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents. Duties also include conducting research and ensuring the use of proper technical terminology and managing the Information Technology Division Applications SharePoint and Confluence for programmatic documentation.

Qualifications:

Required Experience / Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher and 8 to 10+ years’ experience or 15+ years of work experience
  • Experience working with project teams to gather necessary inputs during the development of different documentations.
  • Experience composing technical documents and artifacts using standards and outline
  • Ability to ensure consistency of message and information across programmatic documentations.
  • Experience reviewing and editing documentations created in support of information technology projects.
  • Experience planning for the timely development of necessary acquisition documentations to meet specific gate or decision reviews.
  • Experience working on tailoring of acquisition documentations.
  • Experience developing meeting minutes for key meetings; conferences, etc.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain DHS Public Trust Clearance.

Desired Experience / Qualifications:

  • Current DHS Public Trust Clearance
  • Experience supporting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) programs.
