Tech Support Engineer I

The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.

The candidate will fill an entry-level position responsible for the creation of CAD models and drawings that are simple and moderate in nature. The candidate will work under the guidance of a senior designer, lead ME or EE, or other staff members, to develop and document solutions to program requirements. The position will require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation, and the ability to work in a team environment to develop components or sections of microwave systems and other RF packages. The candidate will perform a wide variety of tasks in support of the engineering and manufacturing organizations by using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) systems and enterprise data management tools to prepare and release mechanical design layouts, detail and assembly drawings, and related documentation in conformance to appropriate program and/or military specifications.

*Required Skills:
  • 0 to 2 years of basic understanding of Mechanical CAD. Basic part and assembly construction and modification. Drawing creation and manipulation.
  • Functional understanding of Data Management (PDM/Link (Windchill) a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams and perform within a CAD design activity
  • Fundamental knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances, ASME Y14.5
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to multi-task and work in a team based environment
  • Ability to foster effective relationships with others
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project
  • Exposure to fabrication processes, capabilities, and limitations
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need to obtain a DoD Top-Secret clearance within 1 year of start date.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:
  • CREO (Pro/E) exposure
  • Fundamental Configuration Management Principals
  • MIL-DTL-31000, ASME Y14.24, AND ASME Y14.100
  • Knowledgeable of Engineering Documentation Standards
  • Experience with the Design Standards and Mechanical Engineering Process for documentation preparation
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication tools and processes
  • Existing Clearance

*Required Education:
BS in Indusrial Technology or equivalent. Associates Degree in Mechanical Drafting wtth 2 - 4 years of experience

Desired Education:
Associates Degree in Mechanical Drafting with 2-5 years of experience
