Systems Engineer

Job Description

What You’ll Get to Do:

You will review / analyze enterprise infrastructure computing and storage needs, computer system capabilities, workflows, and scheduling limitations. You may analyze or recommend commercially-available software. You will analyze and study complex system requirements, as well as related user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing enterprise systems. You will ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. You will apply industry / organizational best practices and supporting processes for the planning, analysis, design and engineering of new information systems / emerging enterprise technologies.

You will provide engineering support to expand or modify enterprise infrastructure systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow. You will test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems. You will support virtualization and aggregation of the underlying physical hardware resources across multiple systems and virtual resources. You will monitor managed enterprise infrastructure platforms to identify performance issues and ensure the overall system integrity.

You will build servers and associated storage volumes to meet system architecture and associated requirements. You will identify system integrity issues and solutions for the full system life cycle from concept to disposal. You will provide staff and users with assistance solving computer-related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems. You will prepare technical engineering documentation, including both system-level and user-level documentation.  Develop engineering solutions, automated when feasible, that may be transitioned to an O&M organization.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • NetApp Storage
  • VMware vCenter, ESXi
  • MS Windows Server 2008 / 2012
  • Enterprise Networks / VLAN

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Active Directory / Group Policy Object (GPO); PowerShell / Javascript
  • Understanding of enterprise architectures and applications (virtual machines, Domino, Exchange)

Certification:

  • MCSE/MCT/MCSA
  • NCDA

Education:

Candidate must have one of the following:

  • 10 Years of job related experience and High School/GED diploma
  • 8 Years of job related experience and Associate degree
  • 4-7 Years of job related experience and Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 Years of job related experience and Master’s degree
  • 2 Years of job related experience and Doctorate
