Systems Engineer (Principal/Sr. Principal)

This position is for a Codes and Cryptography Systems Engineer for the Northrop Grumman Technical Services (NGTS) Ground Based Strategic Deterrent contract (GBSD). This engineer will perform software and hardware related system engineering activities for Codes and Cryptography functions at our Ogden, Utah facility. Candidate shall perform engineering functions to include development of element and subsystem level ICDs, IDD, and IRSs. Requires software and hardware expertise to define SW-SW interfaces, HW-SW interfaces, and HW-HW interfaces. Familiarity of requirements, verification and design analysis, code level peer reviews, technical support for software design reviews, and testing is requisite.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:


This requisition may be filled at either a Principal level or Sr. Principal level.


  • BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Bachelors of Science; 3 years with Masters (Sr. Principal level requires 9 years with a BS, or 7 with a Masters)

  • Demonstrated experience with requirements and system level design, verification and interface specification development

  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Top Secret Clearance




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Top Secret Security Clearance strongly preferred
  • Codes and Cryptography experience

  • Familiarity with ICBM operational and support software and hardware

  • Demonstrated history of performance in software and hardware interfaces

  • Experience in the military aerospace development environment

  • Demonstrated performance, leadership and customer support

  • Responsible, self-sufficient engineer capable of performing tasks with general guidance

  • Strong communication skills including technical writing and verbal presentations

  • Ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems

  • Use and/or application of systems engineering principles, theories and concepts

  • Demonstrated communication skills including technical writing and verbal communication
