Systems Engineer


Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is seeking a Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer with receiver experience related to to support the Naval Air Warfare Center – Weapons Division (NAWC-WD) Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) Jammer Technique Optimization (JATO Group) located in Point Mugu, CA. The candidate will function as an integral part of a team of government, military, and contractor personnel that provides technique development, testing, technical data packages and employment recommendations to EA-18G.


Daily activities:

  • Research, design, develop, modify, analyze, evaluate and test RF receivers in support of electronic attack systems.

  • Conduct experimental tests on equipment and evaluate and report results. 

  • Develop specifications for selecting components and equipment to use. May also review vendors' abilities to support development. Review, evaluate, and verify that developed system, subsystem, and configuration item specifications meet technical adequacy.

  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors; solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.  

  • Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

  • Contribute to completion of routine technical tasks.


    • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or Related Degree and five (5) years or more experience in military or commercial receiver engineering related to electronic attack, test and operations; or Master’s and three (3) years or more experience.
    • Experience with receiver systems used to inform electronic attack equipment, i.e. Directed RF Memory (DRFM), ALQ-214, Radar Warning Receivers (RWR), etc.
    • Knowledge of transmit and receive antennas, electronic support measures receivers, and waveform generators.
    • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.  General knowledge of other related disciplines.
    • Must be a self-starter and work without close supervision and guidance
    • Ability to communicate efficiently with management via reports and updates on tasking progress.
    • Excellent organizational and teambuilding skills, good interpersonal and communication skills.

    Desired Qualifications


    • Experience with operational military aspects of electronic warfare
    • Familiarity with government research and development processes and technology readiness levels
    • Experience with MATLAB
    • Experience with open loop simulators, such as Combat Electromagnetic -Environment Simulator (CEESIM), Advanced Architecture Phase Amplitude and Time Simulator (A2PATS), etc
    • Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
