Click here to view a brief video and learn more: The Raytheon Intelligence Information and Services (IIS) is seeking an entry level Systems Engineer for programs to modernize and maintain UAV ground segments and satellite mission management. This position ensures customer success through the design, development and execution of innovative and comprehensive requirements, test, verification and validation strategies, processes, tools and techniques. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of requirements development and test including: design-for-test, integration, subsystem, and component level testing through Customer sell-off.

If hired, the candidate will be a member of the Raytheon IIS Systems Engineering Team.

As member of the Dulles Systems Engineering Team, the candidate will support the team with system engineering analyses including trade studies, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. Candidate will support definition of operations concepts and procedure planning / development, interfacing with personnel from other organizations. Attends technical interchange meetings with the team members and other program personnel. Candidate will provides status on assigned tasks. Provides document review and helps resolves technical systems engineering and integration issues. Supports engineering change proposal (ECP) efforts as required.

As such, the candidate's duties will include:

  • Contributing to a team of systems engineers in accomplishment of engineering tasks in an iterative development environment.
  • Contributing to the development and clarification of requirements to software, hardware and cyber development teams, and test personnel.
  • Performing system engineering analyses including trade studies, use case development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification.
  • Provide document review and resolve technical systems engineering and integration issues.

Key responsibilities for the qualified candidate include:

  • Supports large-scale systems projects through operations, performance, testing, manufacturing, cost and schedule, training and support, and/or system disposal.
  • Ensures the stability, integrity and efficient operation of systems.
  • Applies communication, analytic and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate and resolve issues.
  • Assist with technical design to system specification
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.
  • Provides support to operations teams
  • Serves as a liaison between operational and engineering staff.
  • Reviews assigned defect reports.
  • Supports the update process for operations manuals, work instructions, tools, and scripts.
  • Supports hardware and software updates to the system.
  • May have opportunity to travel CONUS and abroad.

Security Clearance & Other Requirements:
Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the requirements to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI government security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills:

  • Familiarity with the software development life cycle.
  • Enthusiastic & energetic performer able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, & high visibility environment.

  • Contribute to the completion of program & project milestones under the specific guidance of his/her immediate supervisor.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively across product teams and physical locations.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with DOORS or similar requirements management tool.
  • Exposure to integration of software and hardware subsystems.
  • Exposure to information security engineering concepts and practices.
  • Existing security clearance.

Required Education:
  • A Master's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Systems, Computer Science, Physics, Math) or a closely related STEM field obtained within the last 18 months or by Spring 2020. A GPA of 3.0+ is strongly desired.
  • A Bachelor's degree meeting the above degree requirements with 2+ years of experience can also be considered for the G07 level.
