Systems Engineer

Systems Architecture Design and Integration Directorate (SADID) is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). Supporting this mission are teams providing domain expertise and creative solutions in surveillance, naval and missile defense based radar system design, sonar and undersea sensor system design, integrated air and missile defense systems engineering, command and control/battle management system design, combat system and platform architecture design and integration, operational analysis and simulation modeling research and development, software intensive system engineering, cyber solutions and algorithm development for signal processing, tracking and discrimination systems. The Operations Analysis and Simulation Department within SADID has a charter to conduct analyses and support programs across the IDS portfolio, including surface Navy, undersea Navy, missile defense sensors, interceptors, command and control, integrated air and missile defense systems and space surveillance systems. The work is classified and the candidate must have at least a DoD SECRET clearance.


Responsibilities:


Systems Engineer to provide support for SADID organization at Schriever AFB, CO. The engineer will work closely with a team of systems engineers and software developers on the development of a suite of radar models used for element- and system-level analysis and verification and validation. The engineer will be responsible for supporting technical planning, requirement/functionality decomposition, algorithm prototyping, system integration, requirement/functional verification, analysis/testing tool development, and comparative analysis with tactical system behavior. The engineer will work with an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to perform holistic system life-cycle analyses of the sensor products. The engineer may participate in activities to include interfacing with stakeholders, development of systems engineering plans and processes, reviews of product deliverables, and interfacing with task/product leads in producing quality reports/products. The engineer will provide analysis and quick-turn support for various MDA events. The engineer will support integration of the sensor model with existing external simulation frameworks, and element models/systems. The engineer will provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable technical solutions to complex problems that are consistent with organization objectives. The engineer will create presentations that describe and demonstrate advanced algorithms as implemented in the sensor model for a variety of audiences.


This position is contingent on contract award.


Required Skills:
  • Familiarity with Windows, UNIX, and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with System / Software Integration and Test activities.
  • Ability to work at a government facility within a multi-contractor team environment.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.

Desired Skills:
  • Missile defense experience. Knowledge of MDA elements and fielding configurations.
  • Knowledge of system/software development life cycles and agile development practices.
  • Tools experience: Linux/Unix, MS Office, DOORS, MySQL, DoDAF, Software architecture/design/coding experience, Radar Modeling/Analysis, knowledge of discrete event simulations
  • Familiarity with MatLab, Nagios, ClearQuest, ClearCase, Oracle, MySQL, and SharePoint, or related applications.
  • C++ experience
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering
  • Ability to visualize system functionality, to create block diagrams, and to analyze system performance
  • Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
  • Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance
  • Knowledge of system architectures, networks, and operations.

Required Education:

  • BS/BA in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.


This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
