ABOUT THE POSITION: SAIC has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer/Architect with our Force Protection Lab (FPL) Systems Engineering Development Program. As part of the Force Protection Lab you will be directly supporting the security and safety of the brave men and women serving our country.





ABOUT THE PROGRAM: The Force Protection Lab (FPL) provides system-of-systems engineering and integration solutions that protect and mitigate hostile actions against military personnel, resources and facilities. The FPL integrates commercial off-the-shelf sensors including chemical and biological, acoustical, radar and other sensors that are used by both terrestrial and unmanned aerial systems to improve facility monitoring. The FPL's expertise in modeling, simulation, system integration and software engineering delivers systems and software to provide increased situational awareness, enhanced standoff and security posture and deterrence.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Supporting the assessment of engineering artifacts to develop models of systems within the Cameo Tool Suite. The candidate should have experience with SysM, UAF, and industry standard modelling languages.

  • Performing Systems Engineering activities related to Information Technology or Engineering including: concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system& op. performance analysis,  Lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis and physical configuration analysis (PCA).

  • Ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Outreach and engagement with industry, academia and other Government agencies and programs involved with the use and development of emerging MBSE approaches methods and techniques.

  • Develop architectural assessments, presentations, white papers and other analyses, as required.

  • Communicate architecture concepts and demonstrate value to customers not versed in architecture principles.

  • Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications. 

  • Providing specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. 

  • From an information technology perspective, may be concerned with floor layout, power & cooling, data storage, infrastructure management, backup, monitoring, operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation.  

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience. 

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.                               

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of UML / SysML modeling languages and experience applying this common structure to an MBSE solution.
  • Should have experience with SysML/UML and knowledge of DoDADemonstrated proficiency in using a Rhapsody, MagicDraw or other UML based Architecture tools.
  • Knowledge of standard DoDAF architectural frameworks to include UPDM and/or UAF.
  • Experience with systems engineering processes in support of system life cycle development.
  • Basic knowledge of architecture, requirements engineering, CONOPS development, verification, test and system integration.
  • Experience in MBSE implementation ranging from conceptual to physical implementations; including Data Modeling, Data Ingest, and model query.
