Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
As a System Engineer you will be working with a staff of 60 Operators, maintainers and engineers spread across two locations (NoVA and Denver) where you will be part of a real time operation providing special communications to users around the world. Operations are of the highest priority and you will be working with a team of professionals dedicated to the mission and seeing to it that the user is supported in every way. Critical thinking and the ability to resolve problems and interact and communicate across the team is essential. Familiarity with the Intelligence Community customer mission and organization is helpful as you will be working with various support organizations such as the communications directorate and various acquisition offices and contractors that deliver new capabilities on a routine basis.
More About This Role:
As a System Engineer you should have familiarity with the Customer System Integration Standards and be able to support acquisition milestones from a site perspective. The system engineer will work with our staff of Tier 1 and 2 maintainers to evaluate discrepancy reports and provide feedback to acquisition offices to deliver fixes to future deliveries. The System Engineer will also work with the Cross-site operations staff to continually review system CONOPS for efficiencies and enhancements to mission execution. Engineering support to maintain the operational baseline to high availability standards is of paramount importance and various Engineering review boards are conducted each month with the various acquisition program offices. The System engineer will also work with the end customers to discuss performance assessment of current operations and provide insights during user interface meetings. The position is primarily a day position but requires preparations to support government 0830 status meetings and responding to system issues if mission impacts demand a higher level of attention. Participates in special projects as required.
