Systems Architect Senior Technical Specialist

Responsibilities:

Applies technical knowledge to assist clients in the design and development of solutions to complex technical engineering and applications problems, network challenges, or system administration issues. Establishes the basic structure of the system, defines essential core design features and elements that provide the framework. Incorporates engineering strategies for introducing new technology into the customer's infrastructure related to its business processes of collection, analysis, production, and dissemination. Performs cost-benefit analyses to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functions; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components. Applies knowledge of enterprise IT or engineering needs to design improved processes, generate valid requirements, and ensures that these are consistent with the customer's enterprise technical architecture. May participate in business development activities.

Work Description: The Systems Architect will support the Sponsor’s organization and will be responsible for working with software and various platforms to re-imagine innovative ways to capture, organize, process, store, and utilize data and analytic tools.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support the Sponsor in defining system architectures, developing roadmaps, and identifying planned developments in information technology areas.
  • Provide systems architecture knowledge and consultation to Sponsor components; assist in technical reviews and architecture designs, assess technical solutions against business needs; develop technical concepts of system operations for Sponsor components’ requirements, system designs, and system architectures.
  • Document the “as-is” system and business architecture for the Sponsor providing the basis for innovative changes.
  • Identify all technical systems and capabilities, document data types, data flows, connectivity, high-level functionality and system relationships both internal and external to the Sponsor’s office.
  • Work with the Sponsor’s Technical Director and Group leadership to develop a “to-be” system and business architecture for future capabilities.
  • Identify gaps in capabilities and strategic needs in relation to the strategic direction.
  • Identify opportunities for strengthening, streamlining, and standardizing the architecture.
  • Develop future technology roadmaps that describe plans to move from ‘as-is” to the “to-be.”
  • Work with multiple stakeholders to define requirements and resolve discrepancies between proposed IT systems and enterprise quality and security standards.
Qualifications:

Requires 12 to 15 years with BS/BA or 10 to 13 years with MS/MA or 7 to 9 years with Ph.D.

TS/SCI with Poly clearance required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to perform complex problem solving; identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options
  • Knowledge of Hadoop, Elasticsearch, and Kibana technologies
  • Knowledge of Docker Technologies and VMWare
  • Experience with C2S/AWS services
  • Experience with development of architecture artifacts
  • Demonstrated knowledge in enterprise data strategy, data governance practices, data stewardship principles, data architecture principles, data standards, and metadata management best practices
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline plus 12 to 15 years; experience.
  • Experience with full lifecycle software development projects

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS)
  • Expert knowledge of problem analysis, structure analysis and design
  • 15 years’ experience—with 3 years in IC
