Job Description Summary

Responsible for resolving IT hardware and software infrastructure (servers, network, security, etc.) issues using systems analysis techniques and procedures to ensure appropriate function of hardware, software or system functional specifications. Analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves issues with IT infrastructure including user systems, servers, storage and network connectivity. Provides system administration for assigned infrastructure and establishes and maintains security as it relates to users. Applies security patches and operating system upgrades to ensure the security and integrity of the technical environment. Supports new infrastructure projects. Maintains all configuration documentation for assigned infrastructure. Responsible for ensuring multiple database systems are available, optimized for performance, and properly backed-up.  Propose and implement enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.   Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.

Join an established software organization applying your expertise to help us design, deploy, and maintain physical and virtual system environments to host software systems that our teams develop for the federal government. Work with development teams to suggest physical and virtual system environments to support application needs.  Design, deploy, configure, and maintain systems and environments within Amazon AWS, GovCloud, and C2S.  Influence organizational practices for System Administration and DevOps at the project level and within company-wide communities of practice. Communicates regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.  Clones application environments.  Ensures availability of related application technology (e.g., web services, applications, batch processors, job schedulers, etc.).  Provides Tier II support for the application technology stack.

More about the role

  • Learn our commercial software product architecture and review the architectures of previously deployed systems to inform your work in supporting new development and production efforts.
  • Design system architectures for new solutions deployed on premises and within AWS cloud environments.
  • Engage with stakeholders and project teams to understand business objectives.  Advise on technical solutions to meet these objectives.
  • Install and configure enterprise software products – operating systems, database systems, development frameworks, system monitors, etc.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain development and production systems working with Help Desk, development, and operations teams.
  • Develop procedures for automated software builds and deployments.
  • Monitoring and managing production users and security
  • Managing database backups and performing and testing recoveries
  • Troubleshoot system operational issues.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills. The position involves communicating with customers, other technical team members, and management.

You’ll bring these qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience 
  • Possess required Polygraph
  • Bachelors in computer science or other technical field
  • Basic skills in Local Area Network and Windows OS troubleshooting
  • Experience monitoring and managing production users and security
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills. The position involves communicating with customers, other technical team members, and management.

Nice to Have Qualification

  • Professional experience administering software infrastructures in development and production environments. 
  • Experience installing, configuring, and managing Oracle Database, Windows Server, and IIS.
  • Experience managing database backups and performing and testing recoveries
  • Experience creating and managing virtual environments within Amazon AWS. 
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal. The position involves communicating with customers, other technical team members, and management.
  • Organizational skills
