Systems Administrator

The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling mission success.
We seek to build a team of system administrators who can perform multiple functions. We understand that people have specialties, but seek people open to cross training and willing to apply their skills in multiple arears.
 
Qualified individuals will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

•    Home Directory and Profile Support Services

•    Directory, Authentication and Account Mgmt- O&S - Expanded 12x5

•    Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
•    Patch Management (Windows)

Operations and Support

•    Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
•    Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
•    Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
•    Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
•    Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
•    Provide Tier II & III/other support per request from various constituencies.  Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
•    Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
•    Maintenance
•    Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
•    Upgrade and configure system software that supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
•    Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
•    Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
•    Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.  Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
•    Create and maintain documentation to help train employees resolve day to day issues and  knowledge transfer.
•    Identify and execute process improvements and other enhancements that improve operational efficiency.

Job Description

The Senior Engineer will work managing FlexNet Manager Suite (FNMS) systems to ensure that software licenses are managed and tracked effectively. Experience working as a Windows Server Administrator, License Server Administration, scripting with PowerShell , and/or Flexera FlexNet Manager Suite (FNMS) is desired. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and supporting the maintenance of Flexera based license management solutions and ensuring Enterprise systems such as SCCM feed software inventory and usage data to Flexera FlexNet Manager Suite (FNMS)
 
The System Engineer is responsible for developing updates, changes, fixes, and new capabilities as well as troubleshooting issues that cannot be resolved within Operations. The Systems Engineer is also responsible for documenting the build-to specifications and configuration and installation guidance to support system build. The System Engineer is also responsible for engaging with vendors and service providers to stay knowledgeable in new technological advances, and for developing plans for including those advancements in new changes to the system.
 
Duties include:

• Develop, test, review, and document the instructions to deploy patches, updates, hotfixes, and upgrades to virtual machines and servers.
• Evaluate and diagnose application and software issues.
• Troubleshoot problems and provide customer support for software operating system and application issues.
• Responsible for developing, testing, and documenting new releases, or changes to the system.
• Develop scripts, code, or other automated solutions to orchestrate the feed of data into the software management system.
• Develop professional, clear, concise documentation that defines the technical characteristics and build-to instructions for deploying new capability releases.
• Write/update technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.
 
Required Qualifications

• Bachelors’ Degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent relevant experience.
• System experience with: Windows Server Administration, PowerShell Scripting, Microsoft SQL Server, and SQL Scripting.
• Experience with virtual machine technology and hosting systems on datacenter infrastructure.
• Experience working with Group Policy and Active Directory.
Desired Qualifications
• Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics
• Microsoft Certification
• Experience with License Management Solutions such as Flexera, Aspera, Eracent, or Snow Software.
• Experience working with Configuration Management or IT Service Management applications like BMC Remedy or ServiceNow.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

12 years with HS Diploma/GED
10 years with an associates dgree
8 years with a Bachelor's Degree
6 years with a Master's Degree
4 years with a PhD
