Description
SAIC has an immediate opening in San Diego for a Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) Information Technology (IT) System Administrator position that performs system administration and maintenance on cryptologic systems used in a training environment.
This full-time position is located in San Diego and includes support to other training locations. Support to other sites will be primarily virtual (distance support) but will include limited travel to Everett WA, Pearl Harbor HI, and Yokosuka Japan. Travel is anticipated to be less than 10%. To ensure the systems and training equipment are available for training sites’ scheduled courses and other training staff needs, the system administrator may be required to respond to trouble calls outside of normal working hours.
The SIGINT IT System Administrator will maintain and perform system administration on a variety of current tactical cryptologic systems and related hardware and software used in a training environment. The analyst will perform system software loads and updates, and security patches to maintain system security accreditation. The system administrator will work with training site personnel in setting up and preparing the systems and equipment for training. When hardware and software faults arise, the system administrator will provide the troubleshooting and technical support necessary to restore the equipment to full operation. The SIGINT IT System Administrator must have experience in analyzing, configuring, and maintaining servers, to include multiple virtual machines networked together across separate subnets and different operating systems (Linux, ESXi, Solaris 10 and multiple Windows systems). The system administrator will work with a cryptologic maintenance technician/systems analyst to maintain all systems and equipment in a ready-for-training state.
The ideal candidate for this position is either a former Navy Cryptologic Technician Maintenance (CTM) with advanced network and system administration experience or a skilled and versatile IT Systems Administrator with experience managing virtual machines or prior training and hands-on experience performing system administration and maintenance on tactical cryptologic systems and training devices, such as SSEE INC E and F, STALLION, ASAT/ACAT, and GALE. Good verbal and written communication skills are required as the system administrator collaborates with local and external stakeholders and provides technical support via phone and email.
