JOB DESCRIPTION

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a System Engineer to join a large intelligence technical support program in Europe. The System Engineer provides systems engineering, systems integration and technical support to the intelligence data networks operating over a Gigabit Ethernet and Internet Protocol (IP) communications topology in both a garrison and deployed environment.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Responsible for assuring high availability (24 x 7) of critical servers and systems on the unclassified (NIPR), Collateral SECRET (SIPR), TOP SECRET/SCI networks, intelligence and communication networks
  • Provides systems engineering and administration support for Military Liaison Office (MLO) networks located across the entire theater of operations
  • Responsible for implementation, operations, maintenance and systems administration of messaging (Microsoft, Exchange and Outlook), Windows Active Directory, Domain Naming Service, Group Policy, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Enterprise Desktop Deployment Technologies, Data at Rest (DAR) encryption technologies, enterprise anti-virus technologies and Standard Army Management Information Systems (STAMIS) such as Common Access Card (CAC), and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
  • Analyze and provides technical solutions for user and system requirements, develops and documents appropriate operating procedures, change management and troubleshoots and resolves technical problems
  • Generates technical documentation
  • Conducts technical studies to identify necessary upgrades, systems enhancements, Bill of Materials (BOM), and project timelines
  • Develops and executes migration and fielding plans for new hardware and software technologies
  • Coordinates project planning, execution and troubleshooting with appropriate agencies
  • Provides technical and engineering support in the evaluation, installation and integration, and testing of software to include new software, patches and enhancements
  • Provides customer service support by phone and in-person, to include troubleshooting and resolving user problems and providing remedial training 
  • Provides customer and technical support for e-mail, directories, and standard Windows desktop applications
  • Detects, corrects and performs damage assessment of security vulnerabilities
  • Monitors and analyzes security logging systems and provides technical and engineering support in the evaluation, installation and integration of security patches and protective measures
  • Patches, monitors, and through the PM (project officer or site lead) reports compliance status of Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) to the appropriate functional security managers
  • Scans systems with DISA Gold Disk and Retina to assess vulnerabilities, apply fix actions and report to local Information Assurance Manager
  • Provides technical support for a variety of intelligence functional systems, which include Joint World Wide Intelligence Communications Systems (JWICS), NATO networks, and other networks
  • Participates in technical conferences and performs on-site visits to keep command intelligence community informed and apprised of current status on technical programs, projects, and other related matters
  • Prepares and presents briefings as subject matter expert
  • Plans, organizes, secures and manages resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Current DOD Top Secret with SCI Access (TS/SCI)
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and minimum of 3 years experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree and minimum of 7 years experience; OR
  • 11 years technical experience; OR
  • Major Certification and a minimum of 7 years

  • CISSP - Certified Information Systems Security Professional
  • MCITP - Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional
  • MCDBA - Microsoft Certified Database Administrator
  • MCAD - Microsoft Certified Application Developer
  • MCSD - Microsoft Certified Solution Developer
  • MCSA - Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator
  • MCM - Microsoft Certified Master
  • MCA - Microsoft Certified Architect
  • MCPD - Microsoft Certified Professional Developer

Specialized Experience 

  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of current Microsoft Operating Systems and current Microsoft Messaging technologies, Microsoft Office and other desktop applications 
  • Must have experience administering systems in the Windows client/server environment and providing customer service (help desk) support, troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues 
  • Must have experience in configuring, installing and maintaining, Enterprise Backup Technologies, Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) 
  • Must possess certification(s) satisfying the Technical Level II requirements in DoD instruction 8570.1. In addition to the baseline Information Assurance (IA) certification for their level, the system engineer with privilege access must possess appropriate Computing Environment (CE) certifications for the operating systems and/or security related tools/devices they support
