Perspecta has an immediate/upcoming need for a System Administrator in Washington, DC


Perspecta is currently conducting interviews to make contingent offers for an exciting potential new customer, the Department of Labor (DOL).  Candidates with current public trust clearances, and all other qualified personnel are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration.  Per the client all employees working under this task order shall be United States Citizens or legal permanent residents (i.e. “Green Card Holders”).


Under general direction, designs, constructs, tests, implements, and optimizes portions of basic infrastructure systems that enable and support business and engineering/manufacturing functions. Researches technical environment and infrastructure needs. Defines scope, plans, and deliverables for assigned basic projects. Collects detailed user and technical requirements. Works with others to analyze collected requirements, translate into infrastructure solutions, and to ensure that identified solutions meet customer needs and expectations. Learning to design, construct, test, and implement basic integrated network, hardware and software solutions, distributed computing solutions, and physical and logical communications networks for the customer and Perspecta. Monitors performance to identify and help resolve system infrastructure problems. Investigates and resolves problems on selected software products and standard systems. Learning to apply appropriate tools to analyze, identify, and resolve technical problems. Participates in standard infrastructure solution implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and conversions. Maintains security, integrity, and business continuity controls and documents. Gaining knowledge on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is a pluswith 2 years experience OR Associate's Degree with 4 years experience OR 6 years minimum experience
  • Experience with Windows, Unix, Linux and VMWare preferred
  • Network+ certification a plus
  • A+ certification a plus
  • Security+ a plus
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) a plus
  • Red Hat: RHCSA and RHCE a plus
  • Linux Professional Institute (LPI): LPIC System Administrator a plus
  • CompTIA Server+ a plus
  • VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) a plus
  • ITIL v3 Foundational Level certification a plus
  • Experience working with Government agencies a plus
  • Experience with Windows, Unix, Linux and VMWare preferred

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Experience monitoring, administrating, and maintaining servers throughout an Enterprise Environment.
  • Experience working, assisting and effectively managing servers to provide 99.9% uptime and availability and ensure servers perform optimally.
  • Experience with full operations and maintenance responsibilities for all servers (Windows, UNIX, Linux, VMWare, etc.) including AD domain controllers, email and web servers, file and print servers, tool servers, BigIP load balancers, application and database servers (including ColdFusion app server), USGCB/NIST compliance, and scripting responsibilities
  • Experience configuring and administrating servers and server components
  • Experience managing backup and recovery for servers
  • Help maintain continuity of operations
  • Experience planning, testing and applying operating system
  • Able to create, install and test baseline server images and additional server software requirements
  • Assist with maintaining and monitoring baseline server configurations, and documenting and reporting deviations
  • Assist with monitoring real-time performance and resource usage over time to identify opportunities/need for changes
  • Experience helping troubleshoot and resolve hardware problems
  • Experience designing, implementing, integrating, and managing enterprise Active Directory (AD) infrastructure
  • Assist with administration and management of AD accounts/objects
  • Assist with providing 24x7x365 monitoring, maintenance and restoration support, as required
  • Provide server management technical support (Tier 2/3/4)
  • Support activities as needed on a 24x7x365 basis
