System Administrator

Job Description

CACI is currently looking for a System Administrator with agile methodology experience to join our BEAGLE (Border Enforcement Applications for Government Leading-Edge Information Technology) Agile Solution Factory (ASF) Team supporting  Customs and Border Protection (CBP) client located in Northern Virginia! Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

As a member of the BEAGLE ASF Team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the American people and enhancing the Nation’s safety, security, and prosperity. CBP agents and officers are on the front lines, every day, protecting our national security by combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection into one coordinated and supportive activity.

What you’ll get to do:

Providing technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.  Supporting activities associated with delivery of customer-defined systems, hardware refresh initiatives, and software projects; that encompass:

  • Providing technical expertise in the infrastructure design, installation, implementation, operation, maintenance and security of Microsoft Windows and RedHat Linux servers 
  • Supporting Microsoft and Linux systems physical and virtual builds
  • Resolving application and system software problems
  • Evaluating and recommending hardware/software enhancements as needed including management of system updates and patches
  • Troubleshooting configuration and integration issues in development, test and production environments
  • Creating of a variety of scripts
  • Monitoring and optimizing system performance
  • Configuring security on supported platforms, researching security issues / warning notifications for applicability and implementing patches and fixes 
  • Ensuring backup procedures are in place and executed on a timely basis
  • Interfacing with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
  • Performing scheduled and allocated work, providing guidance on modernization initiatives, and resolving problems to meet technical performance and financial objectives
  • Work as part of a team that creates VMware environments in a fast-paced Agile software solution factory.
  • Maintain existing systems by analyzing, designing, and implementing changes to the system baselines so that baseline changes meet customer requirements. You will also work with upcoming technology refresh projects. 
  • Contribute to operational and system support documentation in accordance with the program’s configuration management procedures, regularly notifying the team lead when problems or issues arise that are outside the normal scope of work are other activities you will get to support. 

You have:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria will include:

o   3 year check for felony convictions

o   1 year check for illegal drug use

o   1 year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud

  • Professional Experience: at least three (3) year related experience; particularly working on government contracts
  • Minimum 3 Years of VMware administration
  • College degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical background, with a minimum of seven (7) solid years of experience providing system administration support for Windows and /or Linux Operating systems
  • Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong communication skills and work ethic; self-starter and highly proactive
  • Thorough knowledge of server and system administration principles

  • Familiarity with the general IT practices and terminology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong work ethic; self-starter

Bonus would be having:

  • Technical Certifications
  • Experience working with Linux, Windows, and VMware
