Perspecta has an immediate/upcoming need for a System Administrator Specialist inWashington, DC.
Perspecta is currently conducting interviews to make contingent offers for an exciting potential new customer, the Department of Labor (DOL). Candidates with a current Public Trust clearance, and all other qualified personnel are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration. The customer states that employees working under this task order shall be United States Citizens or legal permanent residents (i.e.: "Green Card Holders").
Under minimal direction, coordinates operational designs, develops support plans, coordinates implementations, and provides second level support for computer systems encompassing heterogeneous platforms. Develops system support requirements by reviewing and analyzing customer business processes and evaluating available Perspecta and/or supplier capabilities. Leads project teams in implementing new or upgraded designs and coordinates project efforts with support groups. Creates plans that support implementation of changes. Participates in system support design and performance evaluation reviews. Advises on system issues. Establishes and maintains security and integrity standards and controls. Ensures support plans and services meet customer needs and expectations. Assists in the evaluation, testing and recommendation of hardware, software, and network configurations based on customer need.
Coaches others in the application of new operational support technologies. Analyzes user requirements and statistics to identify trends and resolve performance issues. Coordinates and approves updates of the site administration documentation. Keeps abreast of emerging operational support technologies and industry trends. Recommends appropriate price/performance improvement opportunities.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is a plus with 2 years experience OR Associate's Degree with 4 years experience OR 6 years minimum experience.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Experience in monitoring, administration, and maintenance of servers throughout the enterprise.
Experience supporting the full operations and maintenance responsibilities for various server (Windows, UNIX, Linux, VMWare, etc.) including AD domain controllers, email and web servers, file and print servers, tool servers.
BigIP load balancers, application and database servers, USGCB/NIST compliance, and scripting responsibilities.
Able to configure and handle administration of servers and server components.
Able to manage backup and recovery for servers.
Supports, manages and monitors continuity of operations management.
Able to plan, test and apply operating system / patches and updates, driver and firmware updates, and antivirus release management.
Able to create, install and test baseline server images and additional server software requirements.
An Active Public Trust or the ability to obtain a clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Windows, Unix, Linux and VMWare preferred.
Network+ certification a plus.
A+ certification a plus.
Security+ a plus.
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) a plus.
Red Hat: RHCSA and RHCE a plus.
Linux Professional Institute (LPI): LPIC System Administrator a plus.
CompTIA Server+ a plus.
VMware Certified Professional.
Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) a plus.
Experience working with Government agencies a plus.
