System Administrator

Job Responsibilities: 

Eagle Research Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Administrator to join our in-house Information Technology support team. This team is responsible for the end-to-end, day-to-day operations of our cybersecurity laboratory environment in support of our users and their mission for the client.  Daily tasks may include installing, upgrading, and monitoring software and hardware. The System Administrator will maintain the essentials such as operating systems, business applications, security tools, web servers, email, laptops, and desktop PCs.

Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system and network issues, including end-user issues
  • Maintain system and network infrastructure
  • Maintain inventory of hardware and software
  • Manage the lifecycle of desktops, servers, and associated software
  • Evaluate new products and technologies as needed
  • Communicate with vendors and support engineers
  • Monitor news feeds, advisories, and product releases to proactively patch and maintain security of systems
  • Create and maintain baseline images
  • Develop and maintain system standards and processes
  • Support off-site personnel utilizing remote support tools
  • Maintain equipment and operation of server room

Position Requirements:

  • Must possess at least a high school diploma and training in computer networks and administration.
  • 5 years of experience in Information Technology administrator role.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
    • Ability to successfully receive and maintain a DOE Q (TS) Clearance.
    • Must have knowledge of NIST requirements, DOE policies and procedures, and other federal computer security requirements.
    • Must have detailed knowledge of DOE missions, sites, facilities, operations, and organizational roles and responsibilities.
    • Must have familiarity with a broad range of tools and techniques for network scanning, automated penetration testing, data encryption, and virus detection.
    • Must have proven ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure in an uncertain environment.
    • Must have a demonstrated ability to develop reports and presentations (oral and written) that are understandable to a management audience.
