Sustainment Engineer

Description

SAIC is looking for a Sustainment Engineer to perform a combination of systems engineering and product support life-cycle management to achieve the desired sustainment metric outcomes for program management. Reliability and Total Ownership Cost, Mean Down Time, and other subordinate program metrics. The Sustainment Engineer must establish an understanding of the cost and logistics infrastructure/footprint to meet the stakeholder requirements as well as track, control, and/or reduce metric results over the system life cycle.

 

Sustainment engineering technical duties:

  • Collect and triage all service use and maintenance data
  • Analyze safety hazards, failure causes and effects, reliability and maintainability trends, and operational usage profiles changes
  • Perform root cause analysis of in-service problems (including operational hazards, deficiency reports, parts obsolescence, corrosion effects, and reliability degradation)
  • Develop required design changes to resolve operational issues
  • Develop Integrated Logistic Support Plans
  • Perform system support planning
  • Develop fielding plans
  • Develop post implantation review plans
  • Coordinate logistic activities with management and stakeholders
  • Acts as professional liaison among project management, sustainment management, and bid management

The Sustainment Engineer works effectively both independently and in a team environment to develop sustainment requirements that are documented, actionable, measurable, testable, traceable, related to identified program or project needs or opportunities, and defined to a level of detail sufficient for system design while balancing the conflicting sustainment requirements and processes of various stakeholders. Under supervision, the sustainment engineer defines measures of effectiveness, performance, and suitability for the operational environment; performs rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis to establish metrics; and conducts planning, research, development, and review of acquisition documents and other studies.

 
 

Qualifications

  • Must have a Master’s degree and 5 years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience.

  • Must possess 2 years of experience in the appropriate specialty area.

  • Must have active DOD clearance (Secret or higher) and be eligible for DHS Suitability

  • Microsoft Access and Excel

  • Root Cause Analysis

  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
