Superconducting Data Processing Subject Matter Expert

Job Number: R0068653

Superconducting Data Processing Subject Matter Expert

The Challenge:

Are you ready to work at the cutting edge of technology challenges? Our Research and Development program brings highly technical SMEs to solve the intelligence community (IC)'s most critical challenges. We are seeking an expert to guide the development of technologies that will enable energy-efficient, high data-rate interconnections between a superconducting data processor at 4 kelvins and a room temperature control system. Our program is primarily interested in components for a data egress system from the 4 kelvins environment. You will work on a superconducting system that represents digital zeros and ones by either the absence or presence of a single flux quantum (SFQ). You will help our program create a demonstration platform that contains a pulse conditioner that takes single SFQ pulses per clock period as input and produces output pulses that are suitable for driving a range of photonic devices, a channel bonding technique, and an energy-efficient high-data-rate cryogenic electro-optic modulator. You will work with leaders in the field, including academia, other research institutions, and private industry, including managing and guiding the technical aspects of this research initiative.

You Have:

-1+ years of experience with various current research approaches to advanced electro-optic modulator development, including the effects that lowering temperature has on the relevant physical phenomena governing the function of these devices and on the performance of these devices

-1+ years of experience with performance modeling of electro-optic communication systems

-1+ years of experience with room temperature interconnect and packaging of devices for electro-optic communication systems and integrated optical systems

-1+ years of experience with advanced communication modulation schemes, including WDM and homodyne optical detection

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree in Material Science, Physics, or Engineering and 10+ years of experience with post-degree laboratory work, MA or MS degree in Material Science, Physics, or Engineering and 5+ years of experience with post-degree laboratory work, or PhD in Material Science, Physics, or Engineering and 2+ years of experience with post-degree laboratory work

Nice If You Have:

-2+ years of experience in the intelligence community (IC)

-2+ years of experience as a technical SETA

-1+ years of experience with general cryogenic engineering and cryogenic packaging

-1+ years of experience with cryogenic packaging of fiber optic devices, components, and systems

-Ability to proactively manage multiple concurrent tasks

-Ability to work constructively in a team environment

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
