Structural Engineer II

Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer at the Clearfield, Utah location. This is a Full Time Direct Hire Role


Role Description & Responsibilities:

Highly motivated mechanical engineer with knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), heat transfer theory, and familiarity with composite materials.


Primary focus of position is to support the thermal/fluids analysis team supporting simulations of thermal standardization efforts for composite manufactured parts and support equipment such autoclaves and ovens.


Position includes working on a CFD/thermal analysis team with experienced engineers, learning how to apply basic heat transfer and fluid dynamic analysis skills to composite cure applications.


Support will also include, but is not limited to, performing analytical thermal surveys of parts equipment/tooling, developing flow models, and writing reports.


Position may require occasional domestic travel to other Northrop Grumman manufacturing sites (Less than 5% travel).


Current DOD Secret Clearance is preferred but not required, but the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance is required.



Experience Preferred:

Current DOD Secret Security Clearance
* Knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes
* Composite thermal/structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
* Experience with Siemens NX, Matlab, ANSYS and/or Abaqus software
* Experience following customer/internal specifications
* Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing facility


Experience Requirements:

* Ability to obtain DOD Secret Security Clearance

* B.S. in Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum 2 years of experience, or M.S. in Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering

* Understanding of heat transfer specifically relating to fluid flow

* Proficiency in writing reports

* Knowledge of MS Office Suite


Experience Preferred:

* Current DOD Secret Security Clearance

* Experience with Siemens NX, Matlab, ANSYS and/or Abaqus software

Education/Certifications:

* B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related with a minimum 2 years of experience, or M.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering.
