Staff Systems Architect for Cyber Resilience & Survivability

NGMS is looking for a Systems Engineer Architect for Cyber Resilience & Survivability to join a multi-discipline engineering team that encompasses hardware and software security concerns. The cyber resilience & survivability architect is on the forefront of developing next generation solutions to protect technology for our nation's warfighter. This position is located inLinthicum, Maryland.

The Systems Engineer Architect will have responsibility for and domain expertise in the following areas.

  • Work closely with customers and a consortium of teammates and subcontractors to develop enabling and discriminating technologies for cyber resilience and survivability of systems
  • Facilitate the transition and adoption of cyber resilience and survivability technologies and capabilities to systems platforms, programs
  • Support program capture needs focusing on cyber resilience and survivability and CRAD/IRAD capture efforts
  • Participate in working groups, conferences (internal and external) to shape future resilience and survivability technology and requirements
  • Develop solutions that employ high level programming languages such as C/C++/Python, low-level hardware (at the silicon), accelerators/non-traditional computation (FPGA, GPGPU, etc.), operating systems (including RTOS) and networks (wired and wireless)

The successful candidate is a systems thinker that has the ability to quickly analyze and understand complex systems while being committed to working to develop innovative solutions to protect our military technology and our nation. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and be comfortable with solving problems with a high degree of ambiguity/fluidity.




Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 14 years of related experience, 12 years with a Master's or 9 years with a PhD.
  • Must have an activeDoD Secretclearance with the ability to obtain aTS/SCI clearance.
  • Must have demonstrated experience clearly communicating complex technical ideas in both written and verbal form to both technical and management (executives) audiences
  • Fluency in multiple programming languages such as C/C++/Python/Matlab
  • Familiarity with military (DoD) weapon systems and intelligence community infrastructure/assets, mission domains, and concepts of operation (CONOPS)
  • Experience with mixed cyber-physical/physical-cyber systems including sensors, actuators, control systems

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Understanding of computing architectures from low-level hardware (at the silicon) up to an including data analytics (e.g. AI/ML).
  • Fundamental understanding of processor architecture and internals, accelerators/non-traditional computation (FPGA, GPGPU, etc.), operating systems (including RTOS), networks (wired and wireless)
  • Must haveArtificial Intelligence / Machine Learning experience.
  • Understand the fundamentals of both offensive and defensive cyber techniques representing the state-of-the-art with a focus on embedded systems (e.g. not enterprise network). Understanding of adversarial thinking with respect to systems (e.g. cyber-effects) and not just the exploitation chain are preferred
  • Ability to learn and fluently discuss multiple domains (airborne, land, sea, space, etc.)
  • Experience in an research and development environment and with the DoD S&T community
  • Ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and be comfortable with solving problems with a high degree of ambiguity/fluidity
