Staff Project Manager

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for aStaff Project Managerto join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.


Essential Functions:

Reporting to the Manager, Program Integration, this position will lead the Risk, Issue, and Opportunity Management processes for the E-2 Program. They will be responsible to develop and coordinate the program Risk, Issue & Opportunity Management activity to meet all IPT objectives. They will ensure that all business areas execute the defined risk, issue, and opportunity processes. They are responsible for ensuring the Enterprise Risk & Opportunity Management Plan and Enterprise Issue Management Plan are kept up to date, gaining board approval for all changes Evaluates risk and opportunity handling approaches, mitigation plans and opportunity pursuit plans. Develops risk and opportunity metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the risk and opportunity management process and procedures. Drives integration of mitigation and/or pursuit plans into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and Earned Value Management System (EVMS). Informs and advises higher level management on critical project risks and mitigations. Ensure that the risk, issue and opportunity management activity is reviewed as part of the program strategic rhythm both internally and with the customer. Responsible to lead the Enterprise level Risk and Opportunity Review Boards and Working Groups. Recommend enhancements and tailoring in risk, issue and opportunity management processes and procedures. Evaluate and integrate tools to foster continuous program improvement. Responsible for providing training to the Enterprise on Risk, Opportunity and Issue Management. The individual will need to be able to work independently, effectively communicate with various levels of employees and management, and have solid customer relationship skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years of experience across development, production, and support programs OR 13 years of relevant experience with a Master's Degree

  • Expert in Risk and Opportunity Management

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with IMS development, EVMS, and margin expansion

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and Master's degree in management

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Program Manager with P&L responsibility

  • Experience developing and using metrics and measures to monitor program performance

  • Experience in aerospace and defense programs

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
