Staff Information Systems Project Manager

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Sr. Project Manager to become part of Northrop Grumman's organization supporting the Army Analytics Group's Research Facilitation Laboratory. This position will be located in the Taylor Building in Arlington, VA.

The team conducts a variety of research studies and supports data analytics efforts for clients across the Army, Office of the Secretary of Defense and greater DoD, conducting high-quality research with practical real-world implications. The
team works primarily within a data environment that houses a wealth of administrative, personnel, survey, and medical data (i.e., big data) on extremely large populations. Projects generally focus on resilience, health, and readiness among military service members, and include population-based studies, machine learning projects, visual analytics platforms, measurement analysis, and pilot program evaluations.

The Project Manager will:
  • Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as a liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Review status of projects and budgets; manage schedules and prepare status reports.
  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a complex, machine learning project. The individual will interface with PhD researchers, subject matter experts, and external stakeholders. The individual must be a strong
communicator and be able to track multiple, ongoing efforts.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree, or a Masters or PhD, and a minimum of 19 years of work experience is required.
  • Experience managing complex projects.
  • Very strong organizational skills.
  • Experience creating and delivering briefings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong MS Office Skillset: Project, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of PMI practices.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering, Data Science or Machine Learning.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing research and development projects.
  • Experience with Machine Learning or managing projects that utilize Machine Learning.
  • DoD Experience.
  • Experience supporting the government intelligence community
