Staff Engineer Mechanical

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a Staff Engineer Mechanical, to work in Redondo Beach, California.
This role is responsible for identifying and managing test engineering tasks for both current & future Integration and Test activities and determining creative solutions to improve efficiency in our day to day operations. The impact of this role is significant not only for current build operations on our program, but also will be key in defining the future of how we will operate more efficiently. This role requires strong Integration &Test knowledge, excellent team engagement skills and a solid background in resource planning. The ideal candidate will be required to apply engineering principles to contribute to the timely planning and execution of mechanical integration and test of our Program, including reading and understanding engineering drawings, specifications, plans, and requirements documents. He/She must interact across organizations to coordinate readiness for task execution including facilities, personnel, non-flight hardware/ equipment, and flight hardware configuration. Familiarity with Integration &Test Engineering and solid procedure development skills is essential.
Responsibilities include:
  • Work Package Management programmatically aligned with the Sub Project Manager.
  • Oversight of procedure development.
  • Working across disciplines with specialists from a variety of departments to capture and derive requirements and drive producibility.
  • Assuring flight hardware is integrated and tested safely and test requirements and objectives are met.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 14 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment OR Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and12 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge and work experience with mechanical test engineering and design.
  • Previous experience in writing test procedures and coordinating tests.
  • Active In-Scope SSBI with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI clearance access.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous work experience with integration and test planning, procedure generation, and test execution.
  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman programs.
  • Experience with mechanical design, test, structures, stress, Mechanical Ground Support Equipment, or manufacturing is desired.
