Sr. Principal Engineer Systems

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal System Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL

General Task Description:
Primary position responsibility performance of System Engineering efforts for Joint STARS program. These efforts include:

  • reach back support for issues related to sustainment of aircraft, aircraft navigation, prime mission equipment, and technical publications;
  • ensuring system, subsystem and software requirements are met through sustainment efforts;
  • performing market analyses and trade studies to support component sustainment;
  • generating statements of work for Northrop Grumman and Suppliers and participating in proposal estimating;
  • performing engineering analyses for component and relevancy sustainment;
  • resolving issues addressed in Field Service Engineering Requests, Engineering Dispositions, Quality Deficiency Reports and Air Force Tech Order change requests;
  • participating in component evaluation/troubleshooting in maintenance facility;
  • develop and execute plans to address efforts and issues as they arise;
  • mentor and guide lesser experienced engineers to help maintain the required skillset going forward.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of electronics or System Engineering experience OR
  • Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 7 years of electronics or System Engineering experience OR
  • PhD Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4 years of electronics or System Engineering experience
  • A current DoD Secret level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering
  • Previous Joint STARS work experience
  • Computer processing, network and/or RF communications integration and testing expertise
  • Previous experience interfacing with external suppliers
  • Previous experience interfacing with external customers
  • Laboratory experience with computer processing, network and/or RF communications systems
  • Aircraft Experience with computer processing, network and/or RF communications systems
  • Previous experience working on proprietary or restricted programs
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
