General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has an immediate opportunity for a Sr. Project Manager to manage complex, high-profile projects and lead cross-functional project teams to deliver high-quality technology solutions for our internal customers and will apply advanced level of project and program management knowledge to solve a variety of complex technical issues.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand the business and customer needs to introduce innovative solutions that solve complex business problems
  • Provide Program Management support to maintain the Integrated Project Schedule, issues, risks, risk mitigation, resource allocations and budget for portfolio-related programs
  • Work closely with senior leadership to identify and implement efficiencies and improvements within the organization
  • Able to effective communicate and present technical solutions with a variety of stakeholders including senior leadership
  • Ensure technical teams understand short term and long-term goals of the program and business efforts by facilitating communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Form strong project team relationships by leading, coaching, and motivating team members, and identifying and resolving blockers or conflicts
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Support the design and review of the technical architecture and supporting information technologies to validate against technical / business requirements and ensure compliance with USPS IT Standards, including such areas as security, performance, capacity planning, backup / recovery, failover, and disaster recovery
  • Manage and communicate detailed project plans, manages communication cadency and drives the team to meet tight deadlines
  • Build credibility, establish rapport and maintain communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including those external to the organization
  • Identify and remediate risks to project timelines and scope by developing and recommending corrective actions
  • Define strategies and roadmaps for expansion of capabilities, technologies and governance
  • Other technical tasks may be required based on direction from the Program Manager

We can only accept US citizens and or Green Card Holders. The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years and not have left the country for longer than 180 cumulative days.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree is required, Masters Degree in a related business or technical discipline is preferred
Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years of experience as a Program / Project Manager on software development, or large enterprise software projects
  • Strong technical business acumen, with experience working in a variety of industries and IT areas. Must have demonstrated aptitude to understand a variety of technical domains and strategies regarding opportunities, challenges, risks and business impact
  • Has in-depth experience with key practices, processes and methodologies applicable to project management and engineering
  • Strong facilitation skills with demonstrated experience leading scoping and design sessions, managing geographically dispersed teams and identifying and resolving team risks and conflicts
  • Track record of successfully managing multiple IT projects simultaneously in a high ops-tempo environment for demanding customers
  • Solid working knowledge of information systems and applications in order to effectively manage complex IT projects. Manager-level familiarity with common application platforms, tools, technologies (OS, Middleware, Database)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills by doing large stake holder presentations and c-level communication meetings
  • Experience with cloud services (Amazon Web Services a plus), Agile methodologies (Scrum / Kanban), and IT infrastructure strongly desired
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills including creating usable documentation and tools
  • Project Management Professional certification required
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Public Trust Clearance
