Sr Systems Engineer II - Seapower and Sensor Systems

Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Seapower and Sensor Systems (SSS) team in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. SSS provides expertise in the integration, validation, and sell-off for various, principally naval, domestic and international defense programs. SSS engineers are involved in all phases of the Product Development life cycle. In Rhode Island, the team supports the AN/AQS-20A Mine-hunting Sonar, Advanced Mine Neutralization System (AMNS), Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Variable Depth Sonar (VDS), and Zumwalt Class Destroyer.

The Senior Systems Engineer will develop and execute system integration and verification plans, procedures and reports; as well as plan and schedule project tasks to successfully complete system selloff. The Senior Systems Engineer will perform tasking in lab, office, and/or shipboard environments. Interfacing with Navy or other customer team members, the Senior Systems Engineer may be required to travel to support program requirements.

The Senior Systems Engineer will perform technically challenging assignments which will directly contribute to protecting our nation and our war fighters.

This position can be a salary grade G09 or G10 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

The ability to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance is required.

Required Skills:
  • 6+ years engineering experience with Integration and Test and/or Operation of Domestic (DoD) or Foreign Defense Systems.
  • Naval Surface Ship or Undersea (Mine, Sonar, Submarine, Torpedo, UUV) Operation, System Integration and Test, and/or Development.
  • Strong test background in all aspects of a major test program and/or understands the fundamental aspects of development and execution of a test program.
  • Planning and effectively executing plans and solutions on systems

This position will require the ability to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Education:
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Science or related STEM field.

Desired Skills:
  • 8+ years as an I&T Lead and/or Senior I&T Engineer integrating complex Combat System SW/ HW and radars. Additionally:
    • Naval Ship Post Delivery Test and Trials/CSSQT
    • INSURV
    • Complex software systems and troubleshooting network systems
    • Naval Surface/Undersea Operations to include DDG-1000 or AEGIS
    • Naval Anti-Air Warfare (AAW) (including Missile Exercises), Land Attack Warfare (LAW), Strike, Undersea Warfare, C4I, CEC
    • SM-2, ESSM, and Tomahawk Missiles Operation or Development
    • Sonar or Radar Program Operation or Development
    • Unmanned Undersea Vehicle (UUV)/Torpedo Program Operation or Development
    • Live Fire Test and Evaluation Experience (including Total Ship Survivability Trials)
    • US Naval Veteran with surface shipboard operational experience
    • Planning and executing shock test events
    • Planning and leading small teams (5 to 10 engineers)
    • Knowledge of Six Sigma, lean, and process improvement methods
