Sr Systems Engineer II - Patriot Whole Life Engineering Lead

The Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED) is made up of several disciplines whose main objectives include; Influencing systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer/end user; providing affordable, best in class, life cycle sustainment services after system deployment.

WLED core competencies include Safety Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Reliability and Maintainability Engineering, Affordability Engineering, Risk and Opportunity Management, Logistics Engineering, Training, Technical Publications, Parts Availability/COTS Management, Parts and Materials Control Board (PMCB), Spares and Material Management, Repair & Upgrade, Depot/Field Engineering, Systems Integrity, Failure Reporting and corrective Action System (FRACAS), and Availability Engineering.

The Patriot Whole Life Engineering Lead (WLEL) is responsible and accountable for successful technical, schedule, and cost performance for Life Cycle Sustainment work scope on assigned programs. The WLEL will provide oversight to cross functional Sustainment activities with responsibilities including specialty/supportability engineering disciplines, hardware fielding, SICO, technical assistance, depot test equipment development and production, training, technical manuals, supply support, and refurbishment, upgrade.
This position will work closely with the Patriot Core Execution Team (CET), Operations, Integrated Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Program Management teams to apply disciplined program management processes and utilize tools to establish and monitor metrics and trends to ensure excellence in execution.
The WLEL will function as the principal point of contact and communication with PMO / CET for Sustainment scope, and ensure IPDS utilization & compliance in support of program. The WLEL will also support growth of the IAMD sustainment business through the development of innovative life cycle sustainment solutions. Domestic travel of 10 – 20% per year with international travel to a lesser extent.

General Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Interface with Customers and Program Office to define & flow down sustainment requirements
Plan sustainment scope including WBS, IMS & performance measurement baseline development, system maintenance concept definition, coordination of material fielding & training plans, and system support package development planning (TMs, training materials, etc.)
Responsible to for achieving technical, cost, and schedule objectives for sustainment scope; monitor and control assigned work scope utilizing standard program management tools (EVM, IMS metrics, etc.)
Compile & present program/IPT/customer PMR, WLED Tracking Book, EACs, and Gate review content including technical, schedule, and cost status and root cause/corrective action
Ensure alignment, integration and open/frequent communication among Patriot product teams
Manage & Flow sustainment R&Os to the Program Office

Required Skills:

  • 6+years of IPT/CPT or Program Management experience.
  • Experience planning and executing life cycle sustainment / product support of complex systems
  • Currently possess a Secret Clearance (DoD)
Desired Skills:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with IPDS, EVMS, IMS and Risk & Opportunity Management
  • Experience in program planning, budgeting, and tracking to cost and schedule
  • Experience in leading a cross functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Six Sigma Specialist; EVMS certified;
  • Experience with the Patriot product line
  • PMX certified; Capture management / new business development experience
  • Subcontract Management, Program Management or Integrated Product Team experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements
  • Experience managing through organizational change and rapid growth
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence and collaboration
    International experience
Required Education:

BS/BA in Engineering, Math, Science (STEM) or Business, or equivalent experience.
