Sr Systems Engineer I - WHOLE LIFE READINESS & SUPPORT

Acts as primary customer contact on status and performance and anticipates and fulfills customer needs to ensure their satisfaction and continued business.

May contribute to proposal preparation, statements of work and specifications and estimation of product/service costs. Establishes milestones and budgets, and monitors adherence to program master plans, schedules and cost constraints. Develops control systems and reports that accurately measure progress, identify potential problems in sufficient time for corrective action to be taken, and ensures the meeting of company's contract commitments. Directs the performance of program functional task elements such as procurement, logistics, and administrative. May apply advanced technical concepts to the design and development of electronic or electromechanical prototypes and may oversee the development of associated operation and maintenance specifications.


This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Required Skills

  • 4+ Years of experience in a Systems Engineering role.
  • experience with the development of sustainment products such as, technical manuals, provisioning and training plans or configuration management documentation.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Active / Current Secret Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with the NUWC customer organization.
  • Direct experience supporting acoustic, combat or weapons systems from a life cycle support or sustainability perspective, including design and integration of technology enhancements.
  • Thorough understanding of system engineering principles and relationship of engineering and logistics throughout the life of a system.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Prior experience in a position which required all the elements necessary to accomplish the objectives of successful project execution including: leadership, results orientation, strategic thinking, accountability, planning, executing, schedule and cost adherence, scope management, risk and opportunity management, project management process, and productivity improvement.
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Prior experience managing a program/project within a highly integrated Company/Customer environment.
  • Prior experience in a position which demanded effective communication with senior leadership, customers, teammates and suppliers.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Prior experience in the design and development environment.
  • Comprehensive planning skills for both short-term requirements and long-term opportunities.
  • Strong ability to structure and organize a program/project for success and manage effectively in complex development and prototype production environments.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify issues and develop recommended courses of action to management.
  • Ability to achieve results considered to be of significant importance to the business’s long-term success.
  • Ability to work in independently in an environment where responsiveness, flexibility, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines is critical.
  • EVMS Level II Certification.
  • Familiarity with design to production principles and in documenting designs for continued supportability.
  • Exposure to quality assurance requirements as they relate to hardware development.
  • Thorough understanding of Logistics Engineering principles as they relate to design and system sustainment.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Logistics support functions and disciplines.
  • Thorough understanding and working level knowledge of the following:

o Acoustic and underwater data acquisition systems
o Combat Control Systems
o Fire Control Systems
o Weapon Systems including Heavyweight and Lightweight Torpedoes
o Telemetry Systems

Educational Requirements

· B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics (STEM)
