Sr Systems Engineer I - Operations Analysis and Simulation Department

Job Description: Sr Systems Engineer I/II

The Systems Architecture Design and Integration Directorate (SADID) is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). The more than 1,100 employees of SADID provide requirements definition and design at the system, subsystem and component level every day in a collaborative environment which is characterized by respect for the individual, problem solving in a team setting, consensus oriented solutions, and results based recognition. Supporting this mission are teams providing domain expertise and creative solutions in surveillance, naval and missile defense based radar system design, sonar and undersea sensor system design, integrated air and missile defense systems engineering, command and control/battle management system design, combat system and platform architecture design and integration, operational analysis and simulation modeling research and development, software intensive system engineering, cyber solutions and algorithm development for signal processing, tracking and discrimination systems. The Operations Analysis and Simulation Department within SADID has a charter to conduct analyses and support programs across the IDS portfolio, including surface Navy, undersea Navy, missile defense sensors, interceptors, command and control, integrated air and missile defense systems and space surveillance systems. The work is classified and the candidate must have at least a DoD SECRET clearance.


Responsibilities:

This position supports the Missile Defense Agency / Sensors Warfighter Support (MDA/SNW) organization at Schriever AFB, CO. Responsibilities will include:
  • Train and educate the Combatant Commands and in particular, the Sensor Manger Cell on the AN/TPY-2 radar capabilities.
  • Interface with the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) system in support of Wargames and Exercises at home station and at domestic and international locations.
  • Support exercises by participating in planning conferences, technical interchange meetings, system testing, and performing as the radar subject matter expert (SME) during execution.
  • Prepare and present analysis reports concerning AN/TPY-2 test launch performance to the COCOMs representative and other MDA elements.
  • Flexibility to support a very dynamic Wargames and Exercise schedule with real world situations, warfighter needs, and travel as needed.
  • Travel up to 15% to support program requirements.
This position is a G8 or G9, depending on experience.


Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 2 years of radar experience with a background in BMDS radars with 4 years of overall engineering experience
  • Experience with various tools: Linux/Unix, Systems Tool Kit, Matlab and MS Office
  • Knowledge of Military Wargames and Exercises
  • Active Secret clearance


Desired Skills:

  • Missile defense experience and knowledge of MDA elements and fielding configurations
  • Experience with Radar Analysis
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Top Secret clearance

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related technical discipline or related
