Summary:

The Sr.Systems Administrator will work closely with both on-site and remote usersto coordinate site visits and upgrades, provide on-site and remote resolutionsupport for trouble calls, and provide TIER 2/3 support of production systems.

Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Perform system backups andrecovery.
  • Maintain data files and monitorsystem configuration to ensure data integrity.
  • Install new software releases andsystem upgrades, to evaluate and install patches, and to resolve softwarerelated problems.
  • Conduct Tier 1, 2, & 3 ServerAdministration.
  • Resolve a wide range of systemissues, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network issues, and addressingtrouble tickets and service tasks.
  • Assist with achieving optimumperformance and availability standards through implementing appropriatetechnical solutions.
  • Conduct routine and emergencymaintenance of all data center equipment.
  • Build server hardware and deployWindows and Linux servers.
  • Schedule and conduct PM on Windows,Solaris and RHEL systems.
  • Configure web/database/mail/ftp servers,firewalls, VPN, etc.
  • Manage DNS records, SSLCertificates, crontab entries, Linux/Windows user accounts.
  • Troubleshoot alerts generated by aserver monitoring system.
  • Maintain servers for standardInternet services such as DNS, NFS, DHCP, Samba, printing and FTP service.
  • Communicate/coordinate scheduled PMwindows with potentially impacted customers.
  • Maintain and manage multiple linkeddatabases to include security, data safety and integrity, disaster recovery,and development and implementation of bulk data import/export procedures.
  • Participate in technical researchand development to enable continuing innovation.
  • Maintain operational,configuration, and other standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in the troubleshootingof system issues internally and coordinate efforts with third party providersand other operational support entities.
  • Collaborate and contribute to thedevelopment, administration, and testing of backup and recovery plans.
  • Schedule activities and/ormeetings.
  • Interpret and discuss informationwhich involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many.
  • Provide advice and recommendactions involving complex issues.
  • Train, instruct, and possiblyevaluate performance
  • Otherduties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully,an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor'sDegree required.
    • Additionalrelevant experience can be used in lieu of degree
  • 9+years of relevant work experience required.
    • Experiencein the imagery intelligence domain.
    • Experiencewith UNIX and Windows system administration.
  • TS/SCIrequired

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the Customer’sprocesses and procedures and of the Customer’s production systems.
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8570 Level IICompliance within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to prioritize and executetasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to function as a teammember, lead, and independently.
  • Ability to travel 0-25% to GreaterVirginia area sites as well as other locations with similararchitecture/footprint.
  • Prefer skills in one or more of thefollowing: Window Server, Red Hat, IRIX, Solaris, Sybase, Informix, SQL, andImagery Production Chain
  • Ability to lift or move variouspieces of computer equipment, (max 40 pounds)

  • The employee will normally work ina temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure toelectronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas ofoperations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborneparticles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
