Sr Software Quality Eng II

Raytheon Missile System is seeking a Software Quality Engineering (SWQE) Subject Matter Expert (SME). RMS Quality & Mission Assurance: OUR MISSION: Prevent. Protect. Improve.

The Software Quality Engineering (SWQE) subject matter expert (SME) is the definitive source of knowledge, techniques, and expertise in the Software Quality body of knowledge plus cybersecurity, information assurance and software supply chain risk management. The SWQE SME functions as the organizational ambassador for their knowledge areas, and applies their expertise to support the SWQE Department’s vision and strategic direction. The SWQE SME will build new concepts and groundbreaking solutions that shape the future of Software Quality.

The SWQE SME responsibilities are wide-ranging and include (but not limited to) a broad array of projects and tasks:
  • Establish and/or support continual improvement teams for SWQE to pursue projects that improve the team’s functional capabilities.
  • Support the establishment and execution of SWQE vision, goals and initiatives
  • Serve as member of SWQE Department leadership team
  • Concept of Operations owner. Responsible for the command media that provides guidance and instructions for the Software Quality Engineers. It is a living archive that is subject to clarifications, corrections, and evolution.
  • Chair the Software Quality Corrective Action Board that drives software noncompliance root cause corrective actions across RMS programs.
  • Contribute to Corporate and Industry teams (as required) designed to enhance or improve SWQE.
  • Communicate and present complex/advanced Quality topics effectively with Customers, Program Managers, Organizational Management and Chief Engineers from across the Enterprise.
The ideal candidate will possess an advanced background in multiple areas of the Software Quality Body of Knowledge as defined by the American Society for Quality. These areas are:
  • Software Quality Management
  • System and Software Engineering Processes
  • Project Management
  • Software Metrics and Analysis
  • Software Verification and Validation
  • Software Configuration Management
Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 6 years of applied experience in Software, or Software Quality
  • Possess the ability to research and interpret standards for application at RMS (e. g. ASE, ISO, IEEE, DoD, DFARs, etc.).
  • Advanced experience with Agile or DevOps software development
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective long-term innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Must currently have, or be able to obtain, a DoD issued Secret security clearance

Desired Skills:
  • 8 - 10 years of practical experience using high order languages
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication teaming skills, with the ability to communicate throughout all levels of the company and customer community.
  • Demonstrated Ability to break down barriers with internal and external groups.
  • Advanced experience in software test, cybersecurity, software or information assurance
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and develop appropriate decision making skills without direct supervisory intervention.
  • Six Sigma Certification and ASQ Certification are a plus
  • Strong systems knowledge with advanced skills in software and firmware integration and troubleshooting
  • Ability to expose and convey risk based on system level analysis.
  • Experienced with Test Equipment (development, integration and production) implementation, evaluation and certification
  • Knowledgeable of CMM / CMMI practices
  • Experience using Six Sigma practices to continuously improve software systems created to meet the Quality Management System requirements based on AS9100D and AS9115 software supplement
  • Practical experience of Guidance, Navigation, Radar and Discrimination systems and associated algorithms is highly desired. V&V activity and embedded multiprocessor design is a plus.
Required Education (including Major): BS - In Science, Tech, Engineering, or Mathematics

Desired Education (including Major):

B.S. in one of the following: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical & Computer Science Engineering, Systems Engineering

Note: This position can be a Salary Grade G09 or Salary Grade G10 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
