An opportunity exists for a Senior Software Engineer I within the Missile Defense Radar Software Department in Woburn, Massachusetts.
The Missile Defense Radar Software Department’s mission is to provide world class Missile Defense and Surveillance Radar Software to be used in radar systems deployed on land and sea. Our software teams employ an AGILE Scrum process to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms.
The position requires software development, integration, and testing of real-time Missile Defense and Surveillance radar software. The candidate will be responsible for application design and implementation of integrated Radar software applications. Our radar software applications are developed using Ada, C++ and Java programming languages running on a variety of computing platforms running Linux or UNIX operating systems.
The candidate will be expected to be a key contributor for complex development tasks. The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, debugging and fixing problems with the Radar software applications, as well as supporting integration efforts. This position requires understanding of real-time software design and the ability to recognize the performance implications associated with specific detail implementations. The candidate will require the ability to understand how their efforts affect the “big picture” of the radar system and also be able to develop or review detail solutions at the source code level.
This position can be a Salary Grade G08 or Salary Grade G09 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and requirements for the position.
·This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a clearance.
·Minimum 4 yrs experience in software engineering
·Experience working in a team environment developing commercial or defense system software applications
·2 years of experience with Ada, C++ or Java
·2 years Linux or UNIX experience
·OOD & UML experience
·Strong problem solving ability
·Self-starter and ability to lead development, integration and test activities
·Experience using software configuration management and bug tracking tools
·Familiarity with the following Software Tools: Rational Apex, ClearCase, DOORS, iTracker
·Software development experience in a DoD environment
·Radar domain knowledge
·Real-time software development experience
·Signal Processing software experience
·Cyber Experience
·Six Sigma Specialist certification
·Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering
·Experience in an Agile/SCRUM development environment
·Strong Object-Oriented Design Knowledge
·Development of Graphical user interfaces
