Raytheon Missile Systems is seeking a Senior Program Quality Engineer

The Senior Program Quality Engineer will provide quality engineering support and expertise to select programs at Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS) to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements. The candidate must provide education and knowledge on the use of quality tools in the administration of the Quality System and apply quality engineering skills to develop and deploy effective methods for verifying and accepting processes and products. The Senior Program Quality Engineer will use analytical tools and methods to:
  • Improve product design
  • Minimize inspection
  • Solve fabrication problems
  • Complete such specialized quality functions as data preparation, analyses and reporting
  • Support process improvements
  • Complete special investigations and audits
  • Take preventative and corrective actions
  • Support design reviews and audits to ensure that quality is engineered into the product
  • Develop product acceptance techniques and plans.
This position will support Unmanned Air System programs within the Land Warfare System product line. The Senior Program Quality Engineer will help develop quality metrics to continuously monitor the program’s health and generate discussions and actions to improve processes, designs, or materials. The candidate will execute initiatives for all phases of the program and work within integrated teams to instill process rigor throughout the development environment. The Senior Program Quality Engineer will provide support for transition to production activities, including Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, First Article Inspections, and Quality Control Plans. The candidate will also assist in leading the quality responsibility in Change Control Boards, Engineering Review Boards, and Risk Review Boards.

A successful Senior Program Quality Engineer will have the ability to provide the aforementioned in a very fast-paced engineering development environment. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to drive results in dynamic, sometimes ambiguous, environments. The programs are often quick reaction with minimal established requirements initially. This requires the Senior Program Quality Engineer to have experience and discretion to give appropriate direction on a wide variety of product and program issues.

NOTE: This position can be a Salary Grade G08 (Sr Quality Assurance Eng I) or Salary Grade G09 (Sr Quality Assurance Eng II) based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Required Skills:

  • Four (4) years of related Quality Engineering experience
  • Experience in supporting manufacturing and/or design processes
  • Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics and the identification/institution of perceptive verifications
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, CMMI or Mission Assurance Provisions
  • Ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials, consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control
  • Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Six (6) years of related Quality Engineering experience
  • Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications
  • Level 4 Mission Assurance Certification (Internal candidates)
  • General knowledge of aerospace / defense products and systems technologies
  • Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Regression Analysis
  • Proficient in the Configuration Change Board, Engineering Review Board, and Risk Review Board processes and knowledgeable in the quality role in these boards
  • Strong leader that exhibits presence and influence
  • Passionate, high-energy, self-starting team player who achieves goals and strives for continuous improvement
  • Effective verbal and written communication and networking skills to work with upper management and customers
  • Competency in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions and implement robust process controls
  • Knowledge in Supplier Quality Engineering, including the applicable PRISM transactions
Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics

The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
