Sr Principal Systems Engr - Mission Planning

The Systems Design and Performance Directorate is responsible for the overall technical integrity of the systems being developed, and is the point organization for coordinating across disciplines, including: Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Specialty Engineering; Test; GNC; Modeling, Simulation and Analysis; and Signal Processing support where required.

The Systems Design & Performance Directorate has systems design responsibility for programs in the following: Strategic & Naval Systems, Air & Land Warfare Systems, Systems Technology and Advanced Missile Systems. The center is currently looking for Senior Level Systems Engineers to provide mission planning support as an individual contributor. Duties and responsibilities include: developing and maturing mission planning requirements for missile systems, working with partners to integrate missile modules into the customer’s mission planning system (Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS), developing sample missions for use in requirements development, integration testing, and requirements verification/validation.

We are not looking for managers or directors at this time.

Required Degree, Skills and Experience:

· BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics
· Previous Experience in Mission Planning for the US Air Force or US Navy
· Six (6) years of systems engineering experience with exposure in one or more of the following domains: requirements analysis and development; system performance analysis; integration and verification; and subsystem or system architecture development
· Past work experience interacting with multidisciplinary teams of system design professionals including electrical, mechanical, software and logistics engineers
· Ten (10) years of experience in the following technical domains or the like: RF/IR signal processing, electronics, navigation (GPS or Inertial), missile autopilots, modeling and simulation (for example 6-DOF), aerodynamics, missile related mechanical engineering (flight control systems, warheads, missile structures, seeker gimbals, RF/IR seeker sub-systems), systems requirements development
· Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations after synthesizing or generating technical materials from multidisciplinary sources
· This position requires an active Department of Defense Secret Clearance or above.

Desired Skills:
·Advanced degree in business, engineering, math, physics, or computer science
·Current DoD TS/SSBI clearance
·Previous experience with Nuclear Mission Planning within the USAF or US Military Branch
·Graduate of USAF Weapons School or Comparable Competitive Program
·Past Service as an officer in the USAF or other US Military Branch
·Previous work history with US STRATCOM
·Experience developing mission plans, including analysis of the threat laydown
·Knowledge of the nuclear mission planning processes and the organizations responsible
·Ability to analyze issues and define solutions as well as perform trade studies to optimize system performance
·Understanding of Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle
·Strong communication and leadership skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
