Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) is currently seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer in support of several Systems Engineering programs and efforts. This position involves working in a team environment with responsibilities in all phases of Systems Engineering development including concept development, proposal writing, requirements, functional analysis, design reviews, implementation, test, verification and validation. The Senior Principal Systems Engineer must leverage multiple skill sets in areas such as Defense Avionics, Missile Systems, Radar and RF applications, Structures, embedded computing and networking.

Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level security clearance.


Responsibilities and scope include:
  • Provide leadership, technical direction and guidance for a product line or family of programs
  • Provide technical support to program management and business development to build relationships with customers, help understand their future needs, and develop technical solutions to fill their gaps
  • Develop and maintain roadmaps for a product line or family of programs to ensure that business is prepared address customer needs
  • Perform and/or lead systems engineering activities which may include CONOPs development, requirements development and management, systems architecture, system design, interface definition and control, integration and test to include test planning and procedure development in support of assigned programs
  • Work directly with customers and represent the engineering technical viewpoint
  • Develop, maintain and ensure compliance for system and subsystem requirements
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a cross-functional team throughout the lifecycle of a development program
  • Prepare for and lead both internal and customer design reviews
  • Work with external industry and government stakeholders in the resolution of engineering systems issues
  • Communicate effectively with both the cross-functional engineering team and with engineering and program management
  • Perform responsibilities under only general direction

Required Skills
  • Minimum of 10 years in systems, software or hardware engineering, providing demonstrable technical expertise & value to programs, commensurate with current grade and role
  • Experience in capture management: creating/reviewing RFPs, SOWs, BOEs, tech volumes, proposals
  • Leadership experience involving responsibility for technical, financial, and/or personnel resources
  • Experience briefing effectively to all levels of the organization, from peers to senior management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience operating within an organization governed by company policies & procedures
  • Experience working on product development and customer demonstration projects
  • Experience working on teams in a fast paced environment with aggressive deadlines
  • Experience developing technical baselines (requirements/architecture); leading development teams; and developing and reviewing Engineering Change Requests.
  • Experience applying technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems.
  • Experience leading technical Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and/or Trade Studies, performing Risk and Opportunity analyses, and tracking and mitigating risks.
  • Ability to manage work in an environment with ambiguity and change

Desired Skills:
  • Experience in development, integration, and test of large scale complex systems
  • Experience managing programs via program metrics: development, financial, performance
  • Experience ensuring program progress via formal risk & opportunity management
  • Training/certification and experience performing formal Control Account Management (CAM)
  • Experience using DOORS, Rhapsody, MagicDraw, or other requirements management and system architecture tools
  • Experience mentoring engineers of all grade levels
  • Familiarity with Raytheon company policies & procedures
  • Active Secret Security Clearance or higher

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related STEM degree and 10+ years of relevant experience (Preferred Majors: Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, and/or Mechanical Engineering) - or
  • Master’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related STEM Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience (Preferred Majors: Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, and/or Mechanical Engineering)
