Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (Cognitive)

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Cognitive Systems Engineer to join our EW team in Baltimore, MD. The selected candidate will be responsible for:

-Conducting research in artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning, and prototypes advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques to stretch the capability of autonomous systems research and development programs.

-Defining, developing and delivering novel mathematical and statistical modeling and algorithm development to tackle the challenges of prediction, optimization, and classification.

-Appling machine learning algorithms to large sets of structured and unstructured data to solve a broad range of problems that include applications in pattern recognition, target detection and tracking, machine learning and decision systems, and robotic systems.

-Designing, developing, documenting, testing and debugging applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.

-Collaborating with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.

-Analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, and programming techniques and controls.

-Collaborating with cross-functional team to deploy machine learning algorithms to prototype testing and production.

-Ensuring systems engineering standards are met.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering or another related STEM degree with 9 years of experience in related industry (7 years with a MS degree, 4 years with PhD)
  • Previous experience conducting research in artificial intelligence (AI) and/or machine learning, and prototypes advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques to stretch the capability of autonomous systems research and development programs.
  • Previous experience applying machine learning algorithms to large sets of structured and unstructured data to solve a broad range of problems that include applications in pattern recognition, target detection and tracking, machine learning and decision systems, and robotic systems.
  • Previous experience designing, developing, documenting, testing and debugging applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Candidates must have an ACTIVE DoD Secret clearance
  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
