Sr Principal Software Engineer - Systems Integration & Test

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting the E2-D program located in Melbourne, FL. You will be working with the E2-D Mission Computer team, closely with government engineering in the Northrop Grumman Center of Excellence.

This software engineer will support an operational program environment by developing new capabilities, testing, troubleshooting, and resolving problems/anomalies. Responsibilities will include all facets of the software design, development, and integration life cycle for software. This includes analysis of change requests and requirements for a new software support capabilities, software, COTS/GOTS integration, implementation of software using C++, python scripts, and other programming tools. The software engineer will also be expected to learn the technology stack through self-guided study and mentorship from senior engineers on the program. There is opportunity to resolve technically challenging issues and contribute to the design of the overall system. This is a position in which one has the opportunity to work with an operational customer facility in a dynamic environment where one can directly impact mission success.

Essential Functions:
  • Work with test engineers, software developers, and systems engineers to establish and develop test methods and techniques
  • Perform integration testing, regression testing, and formal qualification testing in an agile software development environment
  • Document software problems and verify fixes
  • Design, develop, and maintain software test plans, software test cases, software test procedures, and automated software tests in compliance with program functional, technical, and performance requirements
  • Troubleshoot and modify test tools and scripts
  • Generate software test data, perform test analysis, and develop test documentation
  • Participate in formal software inspection process, customer meetings and user events
  • Provide customer testing support during acceptance testing including test procedure walkthroughs, documentation of testing issues and test results, and answering questions on system functionality
  • Act as a resourceful point of contact to test teams to develop test plan/procedures
  • Provide support to interdisciplinary technical interchange meetings

Qualifications:


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of experience as a software engineer OR
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 7 years of experience as a software engineer
  • PhD degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4 years of experience in software engineering
  • Experience developing software/writing code in C/C++ or other OOP languages
  • Experience with Linux
  • At minimum, an active DoD Interim Secret clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance

  • Software validation project planning and scheduling
  • Metric collection and presentation
  • Software test planning for embedded systems
  • Automated test development
  • Conducting formal qualification testing
  • Automated test tools and automated test development
  • Test data acquisition and archiving
  • DOORS and requirement traceability
  • Demonstration, test, inspection, analysis techniques used for validation of high assurance software requirements
  • Systems integration, especially software/hardware integration
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite with add-ons like JIRA, Git, and Confluence
  • Experience with the Agile software development process
