This position is eligible for a Sign on Bonus of up to 40k for a candidate with a current TS/SCI that can be verified and hired at Raytheon.


Job Description:
The Raytheon IIS Hardware and Infrastructure (HW&I) Engineering team has an immediate professional opening for a Sr Principal RF/Microwave Electrical Engineer. The individual is responsible for leadership and guidance of multi-disciplined teams designing and developing RF modules and subsystems. The role will also support calculation of system link budgets and RF chain analyses to support derivation of system and subsystem requirements, as well as conducting subsystem trade study analyses, architectural studies, and performance characteristic modelling. They will also generate technical material for submission and/or briefing to senior program and customer engineering leadership. The successful candidate will also have experience contributing to cost estimation and technical volume production for new business pursuits. The position also requires the ability to interface with suppliers/vendors via preparation of subsystem design requirements/specifications. Occasional travel to support test activities, supplier visits, and/or customer meetings will be required. An existing US Government TS/SCI security clearance is required as of day one for this position (US citizenship required).

Required Skills:

  • Experience in RF development/research and production for defense applications
  • Knowledge of RF/Microwave principles and system and subsystem-level analysis methodologies
  • Strong verbal communication skills with ability to present data and explain results to management & customers
  • Familiarity using RF/Microwave test equipment such as a Network Analyzer with calibrations kits, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, RF Power Meter, Oscilloscope, etc.
  • Familiarity with the following RF/Microwave concepts & terminology: dB, dBc, dBi, dBm, Bandwidth, EIRP, G/T, Gain, Gain Compression, Gain Flatness, Intermodulation Products, Isolation, Noise Figure, Phase & Amplitude Settling, Phase Noise, Return Loss, Spurious, Third Order Intercept, and VSWR
  • Prior leadership experience with cross product teams in a complex multiple stakeholder environment
  • Occasional business travel is required
  • Active US Government TS/SCI security clearance (US citizenship required)
  • 10 years of related work experience
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in proposal development and cost estimation
  • Familiarity with Digital Design
  • Working knowledge of software/firmware development embedded on target hardware
  • Experience in EW/RF/Microwave Systems design and development
  • Familiarity with requirements management tool such as Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
  • Experience in programming with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience with Flight Dynamics analysis, including intial orbit determination
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, college/university accreditation standard


Required Education:
Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of related work experience.
