Job Description:
Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer to support multiple programs in El Segundo, CA. The selected candidate will be a subject matter expert for the design and analysis of mechanisms used in electro-optical sensors. The position requires a thorough understanding of mechanisms components, such as bearings, motors, gears and position sensors and a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop younger engineers in these areas. The engineer in this position must be able to develop requirements, lead trade studies and evaluate supplier proposals and data. They must also be able to select, size and analyze mechanism components to meet system level requirements and mentor younger engineers in all areas of mechanism development.
The position requires strong CAD and geometric tolerancing (GD&T) skills and the ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams involving optics, controls, structural analysis, thermal management and precision mechanical mounting.
Required Skills:
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) in Mechanical Engineering or related field from accredited university.
Desired Education: Master’s degree (MS) in Mechanical Engineering or related field from accredited university.
This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
