Sr. Oracle Database Administrator

We are currently seeking a Oracle Database Administrator in Egg Harbor Township, NJ to join our team. In this role you will be a change agent by working on the TFM2 contract. TFM2 provides modernization and life cycle support of Information Technology infrastructure that host national implementation of the FAA's Traffic Flow Management (TFM) functionality. It also focuses on long term engineering services and the development of new functional enhancements that increase the capability of Traffic Flow Management.

                   

Must be clearable for a position of public trust and standard background investigation check.

Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Provide technical support to development staff
  • Support basic IT issues such as password resets, peripheral configurations, hardware diagnostics, and coordinate repairs
  • Assist performing hardware buildouts 
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and media is recycled
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and communicate with impacted constituencies
  • Backing up and recovering databases
  • Assist configure networking services and protocols
  • Installation and configuration of Oracle databases, patches and associated products
  • Basic monitoring and tuning - troubleshoot potential database performance bottlenecks and find solutions
  • Database security - administer and recommend mitigation
  • Create job as and or stored procedures using command of SQL, PL/SQL & GUIs
  • Write raw SQL to interact with databases
  • Other duties as required

To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree( in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field is preferred) + 10 yrs. related experience  
  • Must be able to take direction from others
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently individually or in a team environment
  • Must have a solid understanding of fundamental network design and operation
  • Familiar with the Oracle DBMS bundles that extend Oracle DB functionality
  • PL/SQL knowledge and ability to read scripts written by programmers and fine-tune queries
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Red Hat software suite ( red Hat 5 and above)
  • Experience working with HP, Dell and Cisco products
  • Knowledge working with HP Openview, Loadrunner, VMWare, Rational software, Oracle, DOORS, SQL, Linux, Unix, and Java
  • Knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues
  • Ability to travel when needed
  • Good at problem solving
  • Ability to multi-task

It would be great if you also had:

  • Windows Certification
  • Prior FAA experience
  • CCNA/CCNP Certifications
