Sr. Network Administrator

Become an integral part of a diverse team in the Mission, Cyber and Intelligence Solutions (MCIS) Group.  Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission oriented Sr. Network Administrator to join our team in Chantilly, VA.  At ManTech, you will help protect our national security while working on innovative projects that offer opportunities for advancement.

The IOS Division provides mission solutions to a wide range of Defense and Intelligence Community customers. This division consists of a team of technical leaders that deliver advanced technical solutions to government organizations.  Our customers have high standards, are technically adept, and use our products daily to support their mission of protecting national security. The Sr. Network Administrator is a thought leader and expert responsible for design, coordination, installation, and maintenance of virtualized and physical network devices and environments. They independently and proactively provide a full range of IT support services to customers to include end to end solutions and recommendation to improve customer delivery and minimize negative user experiences with networks they are in charge of or engage with.

The physical environment includes a network which includes Windows and Linux servers, NAS, SAN, routers, juniper L2 and L3 Switches, Juniper Firewall appliance, and other it components that must be managed and maintained.  We are seeking this resource to provide technical expertise in operating and maintaining this network.

The Sr. Network Administrator will manage the networking environment which currently consists of multiple locations, complex connectivity (internet based, private lines, VPN), highly secure environment, internal and external customers all supported with Juniper based equipment.

The Sr. Network Administrator will also have responsibilities to engage directly with mid to senior level customers. As such, they must also possess softer client engagement expertise to manage client expectations and communicate complex actions or technologies in terms and terminology accessible to the broadest customer audience.

Of critical importance is monitoring and reporting of performance on the customer network and troubleshoot issues rapidly and responsively to provide delightful service to customers of the environment. This includes developing and managing network routing, Service request submissions to the enterprise communications service provider that clearly articulate customer requirement for changes, additions, and removals of network connectivity.

The Sr. Network Administrator will work in a team environment and collaboration with other system administrators, networking administrators, and security professionals is a necessity.  They will need to be able to interact and communicate (in writing and verbally) with teammates, stakeholders, product owners, and executives effectively and efficiently.

Finally, they identify recommendations on architectural design and continuous improvement methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers.

Security Clearance Requirement:
Active/current TS/SCI with CI Polygraph is required.


Required Qualifications: 

  • 10 – 12 years w/High School Diploma.
  • 07-09 years w/associates or technical degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • 04-06 years w/Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Ten years work experience in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support.
  • Demonstrated Experience working in an enterprise environment with Juniper and CISCO firewalls and ASAs utilizing Site-to-Site VPNs and Remote Access VPNs.  
  • Knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting network protocol such as EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP. 
  • Understanding of Cisco and JUNIPER route and switch including technologies such as VSS, Inter-Vlan routing, MEC, L2, L3, Dot1x, Spanning tree, ACLs, SNMPv3, and Syslog. 
  • Have Strong IP/MPLS networking background and knowledge of various vendor platforms.
  • Develop of effective automation solutions and leveraging virtualization to drive effective network management.
  • Responsible for the collection and submission of network and service management requirements to IT to support the deployment of new platforms and services.
  • Assist Sr. Systems Administrator in a backup capacity with management of complex compute environment, which currently utilizes VMWare, HP Blades, HP 3par SAN, Windows Servers, SQL Server, Linux appliances, enterprise security services for monitoring, and other various systems.
  • The Sr. Network Administrator will ensure security requirements are met as defined by the customer policy and that network and system documentation is accurate, up to date and published in directed repositories. 
  • Ensure cross training & documentation occur in a manner that results in no single point of failure in terms of human knowledge.
  • Knowledge of routing protocols (MPLS, LDP, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF) and familiarity with concepts associated to cloud computing and virtualization.
  • Must demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of specialized telecommunications equipment and technologies. Knowledge of optical DWDM system & optical distribution network (GPON).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills dealing with employees across all levels and functions a dynamic customer centric environment.
  • Experience with JSON/Bash/PYTHON/PowerShell scripts would provide great benefit for automation of tasks.

  • Provide superior customer service; possess strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills in a dynamic customer centric environment.

  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • CCNP Security or equivalent CISSP.
  • Relevant Microsoft/Linux certifications is a big plus (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification, Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Red Hat Certified Technician).

Certifications Requirement:
Compliant with DoD 8570 IAT Level II with at least 14 months prior to renewal (e.g. Security+ or CCNA Security certification) or candidates who can be compliant within 6 months of starting their position

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer 
  • Constantly positions self to get under a 3 foot desk
  • Frequently moves Audio/Visual or computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across and/or around a business campus or large facility.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends a 5 ft ladder
