Sr FPGA / ASIC Engineer

Job Description Sr FPGA/ASIC Engineer + Secret Clearance

Location: Scottsdale, AZ 85257
Duration: 6-18 months, then possible direct hire

You MUST be a US Citizen.

You MUST have an DoD Active Secret Clearance.

You can quickly make an ASIC/FPGA design work and get it into production. You know how to take concepts and turn them into functioning solutions, including design, development, debug, test, verification, and deployment.

Some of the things that you'll be doing...

  • Definition, design, verification and documentation for ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) and/or FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) developments
  • Determining architecture, system simulation and detailed design approach
  • Defining module interfaces and all aspects of devise design and simulation
  • Evaluating the process flow including but not limited to high level design, synthesis, place and route, timing and power utilization
  • Creating test and simulation plans that establish functional criteria
  • Verifying test results and analyzing performance
  • Reviewing vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, device libraries, and simulation tools
  • Contributing to the generation and maintenance of work products (i.e. plans, specifications, design documentation, etc.) used for internal use and/or deliverable to external customers
  • Developing and presenting requirements, concepts, designs, decisions and results to internal management, other organizations, team mates and customers
  • Assisting with technical subcontract management that may include SOW development, proposal evaluation, source selection, technical oversight, and subcontractor work product evaluation and acceptance
  • Reviews vendor capability to support product development
  • Applying a strong understanding of the organizationally defined processes throughout the lifecycle of the program or project
  • Participating in the improvement of the ASIC/FPGA organizational processes
  • Supporting the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle
  • Leading the research and analysis of data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Selecting components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
  • Contributing to the technical approach on small proposals
  • Providing leadership and/or direction to lower level employees
  • Leading technical tasks for small teams or projects
  • Exercising latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
  • Guiding the successful completion of major programs and projects

Required:

  • US Citizen
  • Active Secret Clearance (Department of Defense)
  • 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, a related specialized area or field, or 6 years with a Master's degree.
  • Able to develop new theories and methods in ASIC/FPGA engineering
  • Extensive understanding of ASIC/FPGA engineering processes and related disciplines
  • Awareness of business objectives and how engineering achieves those targets.
  • Microsoft Office applications
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Able to think creatively
  • Able to multi-task
  • Expert in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
  • Know best approaches to accomplish robust engineering design, and able to recognize and clearly report related information
  • Very strong understanding of basic project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls
  • Capable of solving a diverse range of complex problems with ingenuity and creativity
  • Friendly and direct ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, non-engineers, managers, customers, and vendors
